Practice Report

Post by HelenaCat95 » Mon Aug 23, 2004 10:05 am

While the kids shopped, I attended practice. Got to meet BozoneCat, and put a name with a face, and we started our own practice session at Specs after practice. We've got a ways to get into game/drinking shape, but we'll be ready by Adams State.

Here is my very amateur report.
QB - solid
RB - very impressed with Milton and Domineck - fast and strong
TE - Wolf, good. Freshman have potential, but I can see why they moved Daws back there. Looks like we'll run a little double TE sets, which will help on the blocking schemes.
WR - Very good. Impressed with Alley, Sullivan and Sherman. Gatewood started practice, but left right after warmups. I think he had the flu, or something not serious. Roosevelt also left, and came back without pads. Don't know why.
O-Line - HELP. Interior - solid. Tackles - DeCock starting RT, Jensen was starting LT, but sat out with a problem with his hand, so Brewton was playing. Biggest area of concern. Talked briefly with a someone "in the know", who said they may explore moving Bolton out to LT, with Echauri at RG.

D-Line - VERY GOOD. We watched their position drills for a while, and they are fast, strong, and deep. You can tell that Sebastayen and Clark want to lead this team, and they are showing the way. Lowe sat out with a concussion, and will need to sit for about another 7-10 days.
LBs - studs. Ran a little 3-4. Strong, fast and deep.
Secondary - Not as worried as before. Watched the new Fresno State CB. A little inconsistent. When he was on his man, he was on like glue...but when he was off, he was beat. You can see he has the talent to change that around. The Syracuse CB drop down was there on the sidelines, but not dressed. He's waiting for his paperwork to clear. Force looked good at safety. And so did LeBrum.

Anyway, since I've now seen one practice, I consider myself an expert evaluator of talent
Overall, the potential is there. If we pull together as a team, we will be very good. We must stay healthy, especially on the O-Line. We also need the young pups on the line to step up and get the job done.

GO CATS

Curious about Tyler Lulay. Did you see him in action as safety? I have read some articles about him on defense and kind of wondered. Also, when did the concussion happen to Clive?

I did not see Lulay at safety, and Lowe's concussion must have occurred prior to Sunday's practice. Although he was there watching.

Answered all your questions, didn't I. :?
