Maybe if they get those kind of letters from us they won't flag us for 120 yards in penalites?

No crap! You should watch the flims of the Griz/Poky game!longhorn_22 wrote:Is it just me or do BSC referees blow at least one call every few minutes? It happens every game. Does this happen to other teams than the Cats?

Re: BSC Refs Suck
Da Griz may be annoying but he is right. The officiating in Pokey sucked!! And it sucked both ways, it seems like the miss blatant calls but then make it up the next play by throwing a flag for something that is nowhere near a penalty. Am I the only one who thinks that the poor officiating hurts BSC teams during the playoffs because our players don't know what they can & can't get away with, with legitamate officiating?Da Griz wrote:No crap! BSC Ref = Bull S#@T Calls
Those ref's on saturday were the same ones that almost lost us the game last year against PSU when they kept letting the play clock run out and not throw the flag for delay of game.

Face guarding is legal in college football. You are getting your NFL and college rules mixed up.tetoncat wrote:I agree that the refing has been bad. We did get a break though on the last interceptio. The corner was beat and was face guarding, throwing his hands up, and ran into the receiver at the end, right as Grenfell picked it off. Could have easily been a pi call based on the ones they did early in the game.

Funny story about the refs last week at Weber State. As I was walking by two of them were at the ticket window. I took it upon myself to stop and tell them that as lousy as they have been I am not surprised they have to buy their own tickets to the games. They made some excuse about tickets for friends but neither seemed amused.

I did that after last year's game (don't remember who we played) where there were 2 straight delay of game calls that were missed. The play clock was on 0 for a good three or four seconds each time...No Call.BozoneCat wrote:If you would like to send the Big Sky a nice little letter politely stating your feelings regarding the incompetence of their referees, feel free to use this link:

Make sure you mention Doug Toole (ironic, no?) who is the coordinator of football officials, and Doug Fullerton the Idiot.
As I expected, I didn't get any sort of response.

Yea I remember last year a few of us decided to all email and complain about the same time, I think it was after the PSU game. If I recall, none of us ever got a response.wbtfg wrote:I did that after last year's game (don't remember who we played) where there were 2 straight delay of game calls that were missed. There is never any response. Doug the Idiot is too chickensh*t to respond, and he is obviously too chickensh*t to actually DO anything about the problem.
Personally, I could care less about getting a response. I would, however, like to see some changes being implemented. The odds of that happening are probably worse than the odds I will be cheering for the griz by the end of the season, however.

We're not the only ones. This was posted on the AGS board today.
Something on the AGS Poll thread got me to thinking about this topic. So here I go. During the CCU-SCSU game the MEAC crew called an "Illegal Conference" penalty on the Coastal coaching staff. What they said was that Coastal had too many coaches on the feild talking to the team during a time out. They only allowed 1 coach on the feild after that, much to the displeasure of CDB. On his Sunday tv show he said they called the NCAA on Monday morning and were assured that there is no such rule in college FB. What it turns out to be is a High School rule.
My question is, Has anyone else experienced this type of problem in the past?
BTW, the resulting 15 yard penalty gave SCSU a 1st and 10 on the Coastal 15 and led to them tieing the game at half time.

What about one of our personal fouls, the running back barely stepped out of bounds and then kept running in bounds, no whistle and impossible to see him out of bounds unless you were looking directly at his foot, the Bobcat DB pushes him out of bound and gets called for a personal foul, and to be fair, on one of Lulays big runs the play clock had expired. I could go on and on but I wont.
This is embarrasing as a conference. The refs have to know they suck...don't they.

Okay, I don't disagree the Commish needs to do something to improve the situation. But hey, put yourself in the shoes of any one official and ask yourself if you would trash them personally or confront them personally as has been said. Hey, its up to the leadership of the officials to see the crews do the job, learn and improve etc.... put people in those positions that can handle the job. But don't hammer the guys that are out there right now personally. Every time you do think about their family or what you would feel if your kids or wife heard or read some of the personal insults and threats. So... put the blame where it needs to be... on the commish and supervisor of officials whose job it is to put capable people on the field and insure they are trained and evaluated to get better. And let the Powers to be know.

Come on, it's not like these guys are volunteering. They get paid pretty darn well, in fact. Any other job in the world and these guys would have been fired years ago. They know that the job is high-pressure and high-demand with little room for error when they accept the job. The thing that bugs me to no end with these guys is that they continue to make the same exact mistakes game to game, year to year. They have shown me no improvement in the last ten years, not even one tiny little iota. That tells me that the refs and the commish don't care enough to do anything about it.

BC... can't disagree... but the blame should be put on the guys that are in the leadership and assigning positions! They see, hear, and know what is going on and if there are problems THEY should be the ones to take the steps to correct it. It is the Fullerton's and the supervisor's of officials jobs to evaluate and take steps to correct dificiencies. Yes.... officials get paid... and as any athlete does they make mistakes... but is that a free ticket to attack them personally and embarrass their families and kids? I just don't think so... but I do agree it is even more of a reason to go to the top to be critical. Just my thoughts....

Here's another funny story from the AGS board.
This happened this past weekend in Statesboro: Thanks to an off-season auction, I was Coach For A Day for the GSU-Western Carolina game. During the pre-game I was walking the sidelines soaking in the charged atmosphere. Suddenly, the referee approaches me. He sees me in the GSU coaching shirt (which they gave me as part of the "experience".)
Underneath the GSU team name on my shirt is this: "Coach For A Day" written in script. The ref looks at my shirt and then back at me. "Coach Foraday, do you know where today's game balls are?" The guy who was gonna call the game had read Coach For A Day and thought it was my name- Coach Foraday.
