.... At what I am missing and what used to be. Hats off to the Ferchs', Domako, Hampton, Hamilton and all. The group of guy's who did not get the mesage that they were a flawed team and should roll over for everyone. I miss BOBCAT basketball.

Me three... When I was in school, there were more people at basketball games than football games. Ray Willis, Chris Conway, Stu vs. Stew... Those were great times.

Speaking of Ray Willis, he is getting inducted to the Hall of Fame this year. Congrats to Ray, he was a great teammate!

Yea at 6-10 and and on the perimeter he could disappear. Scored 27 points off the bench as a true freshman in his 1ST game as ab Bobcat. Eastern Washington could find him either.

I thought he was shorter than that, 6-7 tops. At least that's what I recall from playing against him in the Estes. Big Jack Gillespie on the other hand was closer to 6-10.

When Tom first showed up at MSU he was listed at 6-8. By the time he graduated Starner was listing him at 6-10. I never measured him personally. Also remember we are talking "Basketball height" So Tom I know you check in from time to time how tall were/are you?

When I graduated high school I was 6' 8". I grew another 1 1/2 inches to reach 6' 9 1/2". Stu said we should round up so they listed me at 6' 10".
I am now old enough to officially be shrinking. I'm about 6' 8 1/2". Getting shorter as you get older is not bad, nobody can tell anyway.

Thanks-It was Johnny Mack...I remember meeting a guy from Monsanto who came to the campus from St Louis and had talked about how that JM was a great get for MSU.

It was a joke. I think Tom played about the same time as my uncle. back when they had a JV team.

The JV team was abandoned just before Domako arrived. I think the last team starred Craig Killborn and a few of his freshman teamates.

Here's a pic of Kral from an old SI I have laying around, the article that goes with it might even mention Tom. It was part of a feature on the 3 point shot being implemented in college basketball and mentioned that MSU had great success with the 3 as the Big Sky was one of the conferences that had been chosen to use the 3 point line on a trial basis the prior year.

I recall that guard Johnny Mack (not to be confused with power forward Johnny Maclin) was one of Coach Durham's most highly regarded recruits. I also recall that Johnny Mack initially played well, but the quality of his play, along with his relationship with Coach Durham, deteriorated as time went by. I think that he eventually left the program before his senior year. Mslacat's recollection is probably better than mine.

Johnny Mack was a surprise recruit for Durham. He was going to go to a High Major Program but at the last minutes the NCAA ruled that program made a recruiting violation with Mack and banned him from signing with that program. Durham had been recruiting him previously and said come over to Montana State and Mack surprisingly said yes. On paper (not in actual results) Mack and Nate Holmquist (ranked by some as a top 100 national recruit) were Durham's top recruits. Mack really thought a lot of himself and after his (first team all conference) junior year was the hands down favorite to be league MVP going into his senior year. That said Durham had had it with his antics in the class room, at practice and on the court. Durham and Mack had a little meeting of the minds less than a few weeks after Mack's junior season and Mack basically told Durham, what are you going to do cut next years Big Sky MVP, and in short Durham said YES! Much to Johnny Mack's surprise Durham did just that. I will always give Durham the utmost credit for taking that stand and he earned a lot of brownie points for doing that. The other coaches around the league were blown away by Durham decision, it was the talk of the conference for quite a few months.

I remember Domako with long limbs and a great outside shot. That was some fun and good basketball that was played in the fieldhouse, that's for sure.

Was Maclin the guy that performed "Stray Cat Struct" during half times or was that somebody else? That was some fun times!
