Bob Welch: Boorish fans take games too seriously

A few years ago, my older son and I went to an Oregon-Washington football game at Autzen Stadium with a college roommate of Ryan's, a young man from Seattle who wore a Husky sweatshirt.
We were having a good time with the whole Duck-Husky thing - we'd decorated the guest room in green and yellow - but the fun stopped during lunch at the Moshofsky Center.
That's when a 30-something man in Duck gear threatened to beat in the kid's face.

What's hilarious is that the author of this is one of the University of Zero's biggest supporters with the Register-Guard.
It's never a surprise to here ANOTHER story about classless Zero fans in Eugene.
No offense to PapaG, who likes the Ducks, but I hate 'em and I always will. My trip to Autzen when the UW beat the hell out of them in 2002 was memorable. Wearing purple, I was threatened repeatedly, had one can of Alpo dawg food whiz past my head and after the game ended, we joined the players at the midfield and celebrated with them. Two bottles of what appeared to be urine (in empty plastic pepsi bottles) were launched at us while we were making our way towards the middle of the field.
That article was typical of many Zero (Duck) fans during my experiences with them over the past 10 years during games.

Oh, the game where the Neu-weasel Huskies danced on mid-field while taunting the Duck fans after an easy win. I was at that game. You Husky fans weren't exactly shrinking violets/purples. I got spit on by one punk.
How about those Huskies now!
Aside - Kellen Clemens broke his ankle today at Tucson and is out for the season.

An easy win? It's never easy to win in Autzen and you must be forgetful of the fact that Samie Parker was instrumental in making the game 14-0 for the ducks within only a few minutes of the game starting.PapaG wrote:Wearing purple, I was threatened repeatedly, had one can of Alpo dawg food whiz past my head and after the game ended, we joined the players at the midfield and celebrated with them. I joined them on the field and after the classless (typical of Zero fans) treatment that was directed not only to the fans but also the players, that was nothing but sweet revenge. So was the next year when our ****** team destroyed them in Seattle 42-10. For obvious reasons, I hate Neu-Weasel.
Enjoy the _ucks. I guess there's a lot to be proud of for a team whose fans didn't officially jump on their bandwagon until 1994. I wish I could have been there last week to see them celebrate their losing 1994 Rose Bowl team.
That was one of the best games I've ever watched live and I was in the zone right behind where Clemens went down. As for Clemens, that's unfortunate. He got rocked on that hit.
His absence from the field doesn't break my heart at all. I hope he recovers in time for their trip to the Insight.com bowl or the Las Vegas bowl. After their 2nd stringer went down, it was interesting to watch Brady Leaf play tonight. He didn't do to bad but it will be fun watching the _ucks get exposed the rest of the season
Phinisee is one of the dirtiest players I've ever seen in college football and their d-coordinator should be so proud to promote the fact that their entire secondary leads with their helmets when they make a tackle.
