Course of Action if the Cats Lose?
What will happen in the football offices if the Cats go 7-4 or 6-5 without a conference championship or playoff appearance? Are there any heads on the chopping block?

The NCAA last year said it would no longer just use 4 losses as a key to get into the playoffs, but would also look at 7 wins and who the teams have played that year. WIth the Big Sky conference the top ranked conference right now in the Power Index poll, I would think that 2 teams should get in from our conference this year. Especially since Big Sky Conference teams have knocked off the number one seeds the last 2 years as well. However this is not a FOR SURE thing so who knows. But I would think if MSU wins the rest of their home games and makes the EWU game a close/good ball game they have to look that we played OK State very tough and have lost to TWO top 10 teams with our 4 losses (and I'm not saying we can't beat EWU ... just we will have to play our best game on both sides of the ball to beat them).

You didn't answer the question. I said if we don't make the playoffs, what will happen in with the coaching staff? Your answer better fits my other post.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:The NCAA last year said it would no longer just use 4 losses as a key to get into the playoffs, but would also look at 7 wins and who the teams have played that year. Simple - nothing will happen to the coaching staff. We need to recruit well and get healthy. Playing a little easier schedule might help too next yearG.W.Bush wrote:You didn't answer the question. You honestly don't think we would do anything? You have to consider what Kramer and Company are working with. One of the best QB in Big Sky history, and you don't think there is a certain amount of expectation? If the Cats fall like they did in 2004 you think people would just shrug their shoulders and say, "better luck next time." I think that people will be upset and are going to want to see some changes to the program. I am not saying Kramer, but I am looking in the general direction of the offensive coordinator for starters.CARDIAC_CATS wrote:Simple - nothing will happen to the coaching staff. All 3 of those being on the road as well.

Run the ball less. Seriously why did we give the RBs the ball so many times? Twelve carries! We were set up for failure with those calls!PDXKat wrote:The offensive coordinator? I simply believe that if the Cats fall apart something HAS to be done. Not doing anything is NOT the right approach.

Getting 500 yards of total offense, 41 points and only one turnover and you think the offense coordinator is at fault? We punt what, 4 times? Give me a break man.
I haven't been a big fan of Bailey myself, but you can't pin that one on him.
If you are going to call for anyones head if we don't make the playoffs, go for the Coach Ks.

Lets see. MSU is selling out all their games this year. Program is growing leaps and bounds and our offense is starting gel at just the right time. There are some darn good teams in the Big Sky this year. It's going to take some good play and LUCK to make it through it unscathed.G.W.Bush wrote:You honestly don't think we would do anything? You can't blame the offensive coordinator this week, but probably the defensive one. I said last week we would win if we kept them under 200 rushing and 150 passing. The passing attack is what killed us not the runs. Every time we did put them in 3rd and long, we gave a big pass play that kept them going.

I would love to see some coaching changes but in reality it probably won't happen. Each year we lose a couple of assistants who take different or even better jobs but that would probably be it. Kramer has mentioned several times that if we don't do as well as expected this year (ie. playoff's) he is challenging himself and his staff as to their ability to recruit the "right" kids. I would argue that the overall team talent is not where it was a couple of years ago. I believe that the depth is better and the transfers he is getting is better but that there just arn't as many 'Star" players on the team. And in 1-AA a couple of Stars can make a big difference.

Why do you use your second user ID when bashing coaches? All of your posts w/ the GW handle deal with firing Bailey, and now canning Kramer. If you are going to post this why don't you grow a pair and use your origional user name?G.W.Bush wrote:What will happen in the football offices if the Cats go 7-4 or 6-5 without a conference championship or playoff appearance? I disagree, you have Lulay, one of the biggest stars in I-AA and Gatewood. He has had huge games since he has been back. Most schools don't have more than 1 or 2 stars at the I-AA level, even when they win a championship. UNH has Ricky Santos, EWU really only had Kimble and Meyer last year, in 2000 I wouldn't call Edwards a star but I would call Humphries one for us. GSU had Adrianne Peterson during their last run and Sam Houston had Dustin Long last year. It seems like S.Illinois was loaded with stars last year and EWU knocked them out in the first round.I believe that the depth is better and the transfers he is getting is better but that there just arn't as many 'Star" players on the team.
