He only got a penalty, not sure if the coaches did anything or not. His explanation was sufficient for me, surely not for cat fans, but what is.
Simple fact is, people do stupid isht on the field, some intentionally, some unintentionally, and that type of stuff needs to be reined in by the coaches. Practice is a good place to start. Don't put up with this type of stuff in practice at all, and let your players know this isht isn't tolerated in any form.
I know Griz practices are very heated, I think it is beneficial in many ways. But letting your emotions get the best of you when it leads to negative effects, you need to take a look at where it stems from.
Bierman is young, Mullan was young last year. I'm not making excuses, but don't think either rises to the level of a cheap shot. Mullan's looked bad on review, but it still didn't appear that a hit to the head was his intention, though who knows but Mullan for sure. It looked like he was doing whatever it took to get to the guy and get him down. It just came in the form of what looked like a punch. A for effort, F for product on that one. I do agree that both were stupid and costly, regardless what either's intentions were.
You may say I'm viewing it thru maroon colored glasses, but I guess I'll just have to find a way to live with that.

Yeah, you're probably right. Stupidity gets the best of all of us sometimes. We've had more than our fair share of personal fouls this year and the Grizzlies have always had a reputation among Bobcat fans of being dirty. Both programs should really work on this issue.
GO CATS!
It's always a good day to be a Bobcat fan!

My name is Steve, if you'd like to know.

I just overheard during the BC/VaTech game Coach Beamer's punishment for personal fouls:
For every yard the Hokies are penalized for a personal foul or unsportsmanlike conduct, the guilty party has to run a 100 yard dash the next week. For example, you get a 15 yard roughing the passer? You run an extra 15 100 yard dashes one day the next week.
Think THAT would get some our player's attention?
