Isn't that kind of a given? I mean you can't really stay 3-0 unless you never play again.

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

What's happening here? This isn't something I'm all that familiar with. Is this the year? Or is it too soon to tell?

You ought to be familiar with the Bobcats winning in January. They usually do a fair amount of that.
It's definitely too soon to tell if this is the year. That will be determined by how the Cats play in February and March.

Past performance does not guarantee future results. Enjoy the moment as it is unique. Go Cats.

It may not guarantee future results, but it usually is a very strong predictor. I can't help being cautiously optimistic by how well MSU has played so far, but we've been down this road many times in the past, so my cautiousness is going to exceed my optimism until we get into the second round of conference games. EWU is also 3-0 in BSC play, with a win over UM, so we'll probably know more about how good this team really is, after Saturday night.

EWU is 1-2, they were swept on the road at Weber and ISU last weekend. I think it's safe to say they are a better team than PSU though, so it will be interesting to see how MSU does against them.

Thanks for the correction. When I was perusing the BSC scores online last night, I thought I saw that EWU was 3-0. So that was their first conference win then? When UM lost to NAU at home, I figured that was just an aberration, but it appears that they might actually be down this season. Who all did they lose off last year's team, other than Cherry? Again, I'm trying to temper my optimism, but it's cool to already be two games up on them. UM's two BSC losses this season equals their total from the last two seasons combined.

It would be so great if they could turn the basketball program around.... hopefully this is the year it happens.
watched most of the game last night, what impressed me is that they really seem to have a "team" concept. And holy crap Dison is lighting fast.

I thought I would add to this January optimism by saying that Portland beat #22 Gonzaga last night and that the Cat's had already beat Portland earlier this year. Thus the Cat's could have beat the #22 team in the country.

The best way to tell a good team from a bad one is rebounding and ball movement. Our depth is a big asset for both, but we won't know for sure until about 10-12 games into the conference season.
Ball movement can be tricky because we may just have that until teams adjust. If a team can dribble penetrate AND enter the ball to its posts then it has something to fall back on. If it can only do one it won't go far. Good shooting is a by product of getting open. Getting open requires ball movement.
If you can rebound, you can rebound. Hustle is required. Only way to stop a good rebounding team is with a taller team that hustles just as hard.
That said, I see Davis had zero rebounds last night. Egwuondu can't do it alone.

We will find out how good we are next Thursday when we play Northern Colorado in Bozeman. I watched them dominate Weber on Altitude Thursday.
They lead the Big Sky about 6 different categories.
If we beat them or even come close we have a pretty good team.
2024 Resume dominance

The problem is that while Davis at the 4 is a mismatch that favors us when Davis has the ball, Davis at the 4 is a mismatch that favors the opponents at their end of the floor. I doubt he will ever be more than a passable rebounder.
On the other hand, I don't think Dirk Nowitzki rebounds much, but I'd take him anyway.
