Idaho State is raining 3-pointers early. Montana State not getting out on shooters. Rebecca Schrimpsher is 4-of-4 from deep and has 14 points in 17 minutes as Idaho State has hit 7-of-12 3-pointers to build a 10-point lead. Kara Jenkins is 2-of-3 and ISU's best shooter Lindsay Reed is 1-of-4 form deep.
The first half was pretty ugly. MSU shot 45 percent and ISU shot 52 percent, but the teams were called for a combined 26 fouls. MSU is 0-5 from 3, 12-17 from the FT line.

I guess the thing we're all conditioned to at MSU whether it be men's or women's basketball, the good times don't last...and they end rather abruptly.

The women literally got shoved around by ISU. They almost doubled us on the boards, like 40 something to 20 something. ISU looks like they all lift weights 4 days a week. ISU also shot the eyes out from 3 pt, like 9 of 13 and we hit like 4 of 9 and two were in the last two minutes.
The refs called 46 fouls in the game, which took us out of our game and favored the physical game of ISU. They didn't call the obvious collisions and shoving....just the touch and reaching fouls. Our inside people were afraid to get close to them because they were called for fouls every time we tried. I don't think I saw them call one charge. They played in our face and bumped and shoved all day but the foul calls were mostly when they reached or touched. The rest of the time they beat us physically. they would just put their shoulder into our players and go to the basket.
Looking at the two games this weekend, either we have to change the way we play defense....or the two sets of refs we had for the two games were the most whistle happy I have ever seen!
The other thing is....we played in Shroyer....hell it's like a home game for ISU! They also play in a cracker box! Of all the Big Sky teams to play there it would have to be ISU! I think only PSU plays in a smaller gym.

Well, we all remember what happened last year---the still mysterious 180 degree turn from first place to one of the worst
teams in the BSC. Yesterday, we were absolutely handled in every phase of the game.
We are still tied for 1st in the loss column. The big question now is, how will the ladies do going forward? Let's hope
they don't repeat last year's plunge from top to bottom.
I don't know, you hate to be critical after only one game, but once again, if you truly want to compete for a BSC championship
and FINALLY, FINALLY bring a BSC tournament back to Bozeman for the first time in how many years? It's been so long I can't
remember.....you HAVE to defend your home court!! Winning at UND certainly helped, but I really get concerned when
I see the opponent outhustle us. Shouldn't ISU have been the "tired" team? They are the ones who were on the road! They are the ones
taking the long bus ride up to Missoula, over to Bozeman and now back home.
Is our conditioning program weak? What about strength conditioning? 45 rebounds to 23? REALLY?
Come on Cats, turn this thing around!

The ISU coach has our number. We do better against Selvig than him. He plays physical and his players are all tough. I think we can play with most of the teams in the league because we are pretty athletic, but we still lack a toughness and outside shooting ability of some of the other teams. We are like girls among....well "manly girls" (as opposed to "girly men").
We could sure use a couple of tall Rachel Semanskys and a Katie Bussey or two.
