Hello all, haven't posted here since the Bison-Cat game, but I have a few questions. I am considering taking a job in Bozeman at a "local university"

I have been skiiing in Big Sky a lot but haven't really experienced Bozeman much. So, if possible I would like y'alls input/recommendations on "nightlife", demographics, housing etc in the Bozeman area. Keep in mind I am a single guy in my mid-late twenties.
Thanks

Bozeman housing is pretty high. I am currently in process of building a 1750 sf home on 1/3 acre for 250K in Bozeman. I think that price is cheap for the quality of custom home I'm getting. as I know the builder well I have wiggle room. Good website to see local re-sell homes is
www.eralandmark.com there you can see all local MLS listings for the area. Belgrade is not far and a nice subdivision there is called river rock.
there are several Cats here that post regularly that know the new areas better than I do. I haven't lived in Bozeman since '97 and will be back this coming summer for good. HOWEVER, when still young the Crystal and Rocking R were great hang outs. There's a place called Ale Works that's nice as well. Brad (BAC) would be good to ask this to in a PM. Also there are several young guys that post that would be better help like Celtic Cat, barechestcat, Ponycat and LLsig.
good luck with your move.

Head football coach?
--GL (sorry Cat fans; I couldn't resist...)
I work as an attorney so that I can afford good scotch, which helps me to forget that I work as an attorney.

As far as nightlife goes, there's quite a few places that you can go, it's kind of what you like best after the first experience. I'm always a fan of the Pourhouse (took me awhile to get used to it after changing from the Point After) the R Bar for some smoke free fun, and the American Legion for some nasty smokey, drunken times. I also dig on the Molly and Spectators for "pregaming." Again though, these are just places I like, and I know there are many others. Basically if you wander downtown, you will find a bar that suits you and meet some people along the way.
I don't know why I only focused on the bar scene, I'm craving a beer now!

There are plenty of bars to keep a man amused in Bozeman. We even got a new "dance" club place, which I sure don't like but it is more modern.
Two strip joints (well one in Three Forks) are always a plus too.
Downtown is the best option but there are a couple other places to hang out. There is a cluster of three bars near downtown, the Molly the Scoop and the Haufbrau or however you spell that. TJs I think for the most part isn't a hot spot anymore, but I could be wrong.
We have some good sports bars, Cats Paw being my fav. Just make sure to get there at least 15 minutes before gametime if you want a seat (I'm talking NFL).
Unfortunately Bozeman isn't a cheap town. That would be my only knock on it.

Anywhere from 300-700, you can find pretty good ones around 400 or so. I was gonna go halfsies on a duplex across from campus for 250 a month. But our fraternity owns that house so I got a bit of a deal.

Right now, I live in the Mountain View Apartments with two other people and our rent is about 680 a month flat rent and water for a three bedroom. You can find plenty of places that are typically close to being 300 bucks a month (depending on roommates). There is lots of places to rent though, places the the University Apartments (birdhouses) right near campus are also pretty nice for a decent price.

RIP Point After.

I miss the point, but the Pourhouse has grown on me! there isn't a huge difference between the two now, but it was principle. I refused to go in there when it first changed over though

i'm glad some of the young fellas got back to you. rent can be as much as a mortgage payment so you might want to weigh those options if you haven't in the past. great place to invest in, but when I did rent I had a home on N 16th with two other girls and it was just as much as an Apt, but larger and with a yard. Birdhouses are nice and VERY close to campus. greentree Apts. aren't bad either. two bedroom used to be 550/mth. if sleazy land lord liked you it was even cheaper

i had 250 pounds with me, so no break on my rent
cats paw is always fun, Reds is great for food, and nice little bar set up. specs is good on game days.

Thanks

Since you're from NDSU-Bozeman will seem positively tropical-you probably won't even need a winter coat
Now how come when someone says nightlife it automatically equates to bars?

You'll find Bozeman to be a most wholesome place I'm sure. There's a church group function every night of the week at our various churches, parishes, synagogues, and mosques (ok I don't think we have a lot of mosques...yet).
But seriously, throughout the winter the best entertainment in town is Bobcat basketball-Thursday and Saturday nights mostly-men's and women's. North Dakota State will even be in town for our holiday tournament-better come on out and watch that!
As for the rest of the night life...I don't know, I usually stay home and watch TV.

yup that's me I'm granny at 32!
don't you know when you're home fulltime with squirrels you age by the decade not the year?
but, I haven't been "young" since 23, since prego at 24. so yes the "young" fellas would know more about nightlife than i would. besides, I'd rather hang out at a stable than bar. shoveling ****** is better to me than being squished at Cats Paw, after all i'm only 105.

As far as the skiing aspect goes, Bridger Bowl is a smaller, more family oriented ski hill about 20-30 minutes (depending on road conditions) from bozeman in the bridger canyon. Has pretty good all-around terrain and is much less expensive than Big Sky. (adult pass is $39/day at BB, whereas adult pass at BS is $65/day

, the price jumped even more this year

)

Here's a little hint: If you want to make people not like you, continue calling Bozeman "Bozeangles."

GO CATS GO!!!
