Brian Fish New Coach?

Post by WeedKillinCat » Mon Mar 31, 2014 8:12 pm

Just got a note from Bleacher Report on my phone saying that Brian Fish the assistant at Oregon is our new coach?

Just came here to post the same thing, although I don't see this reported anywhere other than through Bleacher Report, which isn't necessarily the most reliable source of info. Looks like most of Fish's coaching experience has been under Dana Altman at Creighton and now at Oregon. He also worked for Billy Tubbs at TCU for a couple years.

Good. I think he's a solid hire. There were about five guys that sounded good.

Paging mslacat...he posted a tweet that Nevin Johnson, formerly of Creighton and now at New Mexico JC, is headed to MSU. Johnson appears to have also had an offer from Auburn, at least prior to their change in coaching staffs.

Welcome, Coach Fish! Sounds like it's finalized.

Big loss for Oregon; hopefully a great gain for the Bobcats.

With all the tweets and articles online I believe we have our new coach. Welcome aboard Coach Fish. I am excited to once again buy season tickets.

Here's your headline, Colter.

"Fish Heads Floundering Program"

Or...

"Cats net Fish"

Colter's a good writer. He knows the difference between floundering and foundering. MSU's basketball program hasn't shown enough fight to be described as "floundering."

Don't let this distract you from the fact that the griz blew a 22-0 lead.

One of my Duck friends said it's a great hire for us. "He is a great recruiter and great guy on all accounts". Surprised by the hiring, but seems like it might be just what we needed. I may buy season tickets just to support the Cats again now that we have something to look forward too.

+1

I'm really excited about this hire and (just like that) I'm thinking about how I'm going to get to watch a bunch of games next season.

I like it solely on the aspects of recruiting and the style of play he's been coaching. Should be fun.

It's spring break at the University of Montana, so my brother, mom and sister in law came over this evening to spend a few days in Bozeman. We are at dinner and this breaks! I feel like I've let you all down. No scoop!

I'll do some digging tomorrow and Wednesday, if there is indeed a press conference. I haven't gotten any word of one yet...

Both TV stations in Bozeman are reporting that it is Fish and the announcement will be on Wed.

Nothing official yet though from either MSU or Oregon.

Looks like he has a great resume. Sure hope he can get it done!
