Dirden, Wetzel not retained

Post by Colter_Nuanez » Thu Apr 10, 2014 11:50 am

The hiring of Kenya Crandall does not become official until next week. The retention of Chris Haslam is also not official, although he was coaching yesterday alongside new head coach Brian Fish.

Shawn Dirden and Justin Wetzel will not be retained. Fish said nothing had been decided, but I have it from four sources that they have not been retained. Fish likely won't have his full staff in place until after the spring semester at Montana State is complete.

Good luck to everyone and their families. Life as a college coach can be rough.

As I understand it Chris Haslam is still in the running for a assistants spot but nothing is guaranteed.

Is it still looking like all 3 recruits will stay on board?

I believe it is looking very positive, I am sort of waiting to see what effect the Dirden news has on Nehme, but Coach Fish is the perfect guy to re-sell these guys on the program. All three seem to be talking like they are still on board but the net couple of weeks will tell. Next Wednesday is the first day of the spring signing period and while these kids already signed I would think if they were loking for another school they will need to make a move in the net two weeks.

According to Fish, Nehme asked for and was given his release from his LOI

Not totally unexpected, but a bummer nonetheless
