Cal Poly Preview from I-AA.org

From I-AA.org's I-AA West column written by Kent Schmidt:

This week--Cal Poly @ Montana State

The Great West meets the Big Sky in this game in Bozeman, MT. Cal Poly is 2-0 after beating D-II Humboldt (CA) State (42-7) at home to open the season and defeating Idaho State (35-20) last week on the road. Montana State opened last week at home with a 19-0 victory over D-II Adams (CO) State.

So far, the Great West holds a 2-0 advantage in their match-ups with the Big Sky Conference with the one being the Cal Poly win over Idaho State and the other being Southern Utah over Weber State.

A win by the Mustangs will go a long way in proving they belong in the playoffs should they win the inaugural Great West Football Conference championship. A year ago, the Mustangs finished 7-4 but lost three of their five Big Sky Conference member games.

The Bobcats (1-0) were lackluster, at least offensively, in their win over Adams State. The MSU defense, however, shined--using a pair of sacks, seven pass deflections, an interception return for a touchdown, and blocking two kicks to gain the win.

I see another defensive struggle with seniors DE Ray Sebestyen and LB Roger Cooper leading the Bobcats and senior LB Jordan Beck leading the Mustangs.

Last year, the Mustangs won 24-21 in San Luis Obispo. I see a similar margin this year but will have to go with the Bobcats as they have both the home field and one more star defender and a slightly better offense led by junior quarterback Travis Lulay.
Pretty good view of the game I believe. Also check out the link as it contains a very good look at the second year program at Southeastern Louisiana that knocked off McNeese last week.
