MSU will beat CSU
The How: CSU will put eight men in the box and blitz early. Things will finally fall into place for Lulay and the receivers. MSU will build an early lead and get CSU to back off the line. The MSU ground game will help the defense, by keeping them off the field, the rest of the way in holding off the Rams. MSU 21, CSU 17.
The Logic: If Maine can beat Mississippi State -- a downtrodden SEC team -- then MSU can beat CSU -- a downtrodden Mtn West team. And, CSU is under big time pressure, while MSU will be loose.

Not the worst logic I have heard. MSU played well enough to win at Wyoming last year, in fact, should have minus the blocked punt returned for a TD and the four INT's (several deep in WY territory), and Wyoming beat CSU later in the year. If we can avoid the big plays, play them even in the special teams areas, and move the ball with some consistency there is no reason we can't steal one Saturday.

Good luck this Saturday. We came back and scored 21 on San Diego State but still lost a game we were supposed to lose. They went on to lose by three against Michigan. Anything is possible but I would be happy if MSU put up 24 points.

Ignoring the psychological effects that CSU has been a punching bag for the past three weeks, CSU is just not that talented a team. They had some success in the late 90s and early "aughts", but were a long way from being the class of the MWC last year. With the exception of the Colorado game, which shows that their QB (or possibly OC) is a giant bonehead, they have suffered blowout losses to teams that better programs would have hung with.
However, the 'Cats have a "let's take a vacation" attitude for this game. If the 'Cats were gearing up for this, and didn't have a ton of problems, I would give MSU a good chance to take the game. However, Kramer plans to use this game to make adjustments, and experiment. A well running I-AA could take CSU. MSU isn't well running.

Agree with pretty much all of this except the final score, gotta think the Cats will hang some score up and not get blanked. Don't really think CSU will put up 49 either. I would say 35-14 or so is more realistic. though I like iaafan's prediction much better.theblackgecko wrote:Ignoring the psychological effects that CSU has been a punching bag for the past three weeks, CSU is just not that talented a team. Last week I picked the Cats to win and they lost. This week, I'm predicting the Cats to........
Tune in later this week to find out who wins. The final is 34-13.

If you must know....jagur1 wrote:Ctowm..(meat in your mind) Is that a missed Extra point or 2 made FGs?
My 8 ball says:
CSU - 6 yard touchdown run, extra point good (7-0)
CSU - 12 yard pass, extra point good (14-0)
MSU - 24 yard pass, extra point good (14-7)
CSU - 43 yard field goal (17-7)
CSU - 32 yard field goal (20-7)
Halftime
CSU - 5 yard run, extra point good (27-7)
MSU - 39 yard field goal (27-10)
CSU - 16 yard pass, extra point good (34-10)
MSU - 30 yard field goal (34-13)
Sorry Cat fans, but it's science. However, I picked you to win the CP game and you lost. Maybe my 8 ball is broken. In which case, MSU 28 CSU 21 in OT.

Here's my (very simple and unscientific) logic:
The past few years, the Griz have been among the 10 best teams in 1AA (much as we hate to admit it), and have somehow managed to BARELY beat the lowly Vandals of Idaho, who are without doubt the WORST football team in 1A, maybe even historically so!
That being said, I love 1aafans positive attitude but the odds of the Cat team that has taken the field twice at home going down to Ft. Collins and coming home with a win? I'm thinking 100 - 1. Yes, we could somehow beat them once if we played them 100 times; just not this time. I believe it will be a typical MSU vs 1A opponent game, however; the Cats will keep it close until a couple of big plays late in the third quarter...
Halftime score:
CSU 14 MSU 10
Final score:
CSU 34 MSU 17
2 TD's & a FG for the Cats (we have to make one sooner or later!!)
CSU will be +2 in the turnover department which will have all us citizens of Bobcat Nation thinking later in the season "we shoulda beat CSU..."
Get ready for the Bengals! GO CATS!
