Kicking Game

Post by WYCAT » Mon Sep 20, 2004 12:47 pm

In some ways it seems things have settled down in the kicking game(s). Travis has been great on kickoffs and Tyler seems to have settled into the place kicking duties for now. A couple of questions:

1) His missed field goal attempt from about 30 yards Saturday (after the block and fumble to get another chance) was said to be short. This couldn't be due to a lack of leg I hope. Can someone who saw the game speak more to that miss?

2) Why does EJ not get chance to kick a field goal? We know he has the leg is it totally about accuracy? It seems as bad as it has been for quite a while now, he would at least get a mention? Is there something I am missing?

At least we were 2 for 2 on PAT's.

The problem is that we are only 2 for 2. Should be at least 6 for 6 if my count is correct. I know that we can't blame the kickers for this. But lets get a few into the end zone and then not have to worry so much about a kicking game.

Distance isnt that big of problem for Bolton. Against Adams St. he missed a 47 yarder just wide, and had distance of 5+ more yards on it.

EJ has had plenty of chances to prove his worth through the years. So until he shows me something, I'd just as soon use Bolton on FGs/PATs and Travis on kickoffs.

The first kick Saturday was of course a fumble by Coppack on the hold. The second one, the way it spun off his foot...looked to me like a bad hold too. I would bet it was not put down straight on the tip of the ball, but I can't be sure. I think Bolton could be a good kicker, but don't keep changing holders!

It didn't look like the kick made it high enough off the ground to clear the post... from where I was sitting anyway...

Great time to be a BOBCAT!
