4) The running game will come around. CP defense is designed to strop the run and they did. They had 6 to 8 guys up on the line of scrimmage on every play. It is had to run with that may guys on the line. Until we start to complete those short passes we will be seeing a lot of 8 man fronts.
That's an excellent point. There's no reason to cover the receivers very tight right now. I mean, I haven't seen such a wide open recever drop such a perfect throw than Roos dropped on that skinny post. He could have crab walked into the endzone. And Gatewood's hands - that's just plain mental.
I've heard that the coaching staff recruits RBs for LB, etc. It makes me wonder which position they recruit for receiver. They all got 4.4 speed with 5.0 hands.

Precisely. If they know they can get away with 1on1 coverage every time, and this goes for any defense, they will stack the line. If we can't humble their secondary/pass coverage, they will have no reason to BE in a pass coverage formation. Show defense than we can make the plays downfield, and they'll lay off allowing the run game to establish itself. Until atleast one of our games (running/passing) starts to produce, ESPECIALLY the pass game, defenses will have a fun time just only worrying about one part of our game, cuz they know the other isn't going to do jack.

Guinn looked pretty good, but overall, the offense didn't seem together at all. The parts seem to be there, but not well coached. I'm certainly not shocked that we lost to Cal-Poly, we always do and they are a good team. I actually think their conference might be much better than the Big Sky this year. It sure was a dull game, I couldn't help but yawn frequently. The attendance has been pretty amazing, given the quality of play the last couple of years. The defense has been excellent, particularly in light of the weak offense that makes their job harder. Can't wait for the conference season (Volleyball), for some real entertainment.

Towards the end of the game on Saturday, somebody made the comment on how Lulay hasn't really even tried to scamble like in the years past. My comment back to that person, was this. He doesn't have the confidence in his o-line for the protection. Swags is no longer there. Also, it is obviously apparent when he throws the ball. You know that he is saying a hail mary everytime, because his confidence in his receivers is the same. What more can he do? My god, he threw the ball umpteen times, in the hands of the receivers, and they dropped the ball every time. I think people need to settle down with Lulay, and get after those responsible for "catching" the ball. As far as Gatewood is concerned, get him off the field, or invest in crazy glue! It ain't happening with this fella!!

In 2003, I was in Bozo and watched the spring game. Kellen Alley was unstopable. He made some GREAT catches. He was just a red shirt. He is big, and has great hands. Put the boy in, or is he in Kramers doghouse?? What about the young man that has been in the program for the duration as a walk on & is yet to start? He is loyal, give the guy a shot!
