Running Game Saturday

Any predictions/thoughts regarding our running game on Saturday? It looks like CSU has give up a lot of yards on the ground this year and we may be able to break out this week (Assuming we don't fall behind big and early and have to throw the running game out the window).

Also, CSU has been outscored big in the first and second quarters all three games this year. I think I good start for us is a major key also. That and turnovers (which the have I think 11 this year).

Gopher and Trojan backs are in another world compared to the cat backs.

A lot of people will have trouble with the Gopher and Trojan backs, just becouse CSU had trouble doesn't indicate that the cat running game will get going. I say 15 carries for 30 yards plus QB 10 carries for -3 yards so Cats 25 carries 27 yards. CSU 45 cats 0

If all of our running backs average 80 yards per game, I will be happy.

The Griz losing has been good for the quality of bb's posts (even though this one has a transparent recurring dig in it, but still...). Keep up the good work. It's good to see adult board-worthy posts from you.

USC's Offensive line averages 6'4" and 317 pounds (one of their tackles is listed at 370!) Colorado's goes about 6'4" and 295 (their subs are even bigger). That's probably a big reason why CSU looked vulunerable against the run in their first 3 games.

Aside from all of your irrelevent comparisons, if the O-Line and RB's play the rest of the season the way they did the first two games, we will have a very bad season. I think that's really the only thing we are worried about.

I just heard Kramer say Eddie Smith is lost for at least 5 weeks, one of the Redshirt Freshman corners just got a concussion...they will go to CSU with three corners and probably will have to burn one of the true freshmen's redshirt year for depth.

then to make things worse...Jeff Bolton is doubtful...so that probably means Redshirt freshmen Jensen and DeCock at the tackles. Dominek is nicked up so Milton will get the start (that may be the only semi good news!)

Somehow when Coach Kramer starts with the body count things turn out pretty good.

Is Kahiam Hunter out for the year for sure? I read Kramer say they hadn't decided as of last week.

ONLY if Lulay is throwing for 350 a game. And even then, we wont go far in the playoffs with that kind of balance. If we are one dimensional, we will win games, but not against good teams. 80 yards a game will not cut it!

I want our offense to log 150 on the ground 250 in the air. 400 yards a game would be a career year in Bozeman for Bailey, and probably a pipe dream for me.

Maybe you are counting that Auto bid a little early this year ! Going into Conf play at 1-2 with no Offense and no passing D fense and not being able to stop the Run. Do you think your chicken will really hatch?

We'll stop the run. Cal-Poly took it to us in the 4th after fighting that option all day, after Marudas broke his leg. Not an area I'm worried about...

Helcat, dont' tell me this before this weekend!!

Man, now we are hurting if this is the case. Holland is a good QB and can throw the football. Who knows, though .. maybe a diamond in the rough will appear for some of these guys that are gonna get some playing time this week. This does not look good for this weekend though. If Bolton is doubtlful, then I say don't even play him, we need him for the Big Sky stretch run.

I’m guessing we see very few running plays, at least in the early going. I think that Kramer will use this game as a test to see if we can start catching the passes that should be caught. He stated that 16 dropped passes in 2 games is totally unacceptable and does not get us to where we need to be with the spread offense. They’re catching them in practice but choking in the games. Those drops are really the one thing slowing us down right now. Hopefully the dropsies go away this weekend, we move the ball through the air and loosen up the D a bit which will get the running game on track, and make a game out of it. Watch for us to throw often early.

Any chance of seeing more of Alley? I like his size and skills but he seems to be in Kramers doghouse? Is there something I am missing?

My observation is that Alley is slow! Maybe he could be a possession type receiver with his size though.

I agree with the speed (or lack thereof) issue but with the catching issues of late, he may be just what the doctor ordered. Some of our best historical receivers have been more posession type with a lot of heart.
