Going to the Sun Road Update?

Post by gtapp » Tue Nov 29, 2005 5:53 pm

Anyone know if the plans have been finallized on when and how they are going to "upgrade" the Going to the Sun Road in Glacier? It seems like the big question was the trade-off between doing it fast and losing more tourism dollars vs. doing a little at a time and keeping the road open throughout the summer.

See http://www.nps.gov/glac/sunroad/newsletter072705.pdf.

Basically, the plan is to keep the Sun Road as open as possible. Delays will be minimized to the extent practicial, but sometimes during certain parts of the project, part of the road will be impassible. The Logan Pass Visitor Center will always remain accessible from one side or the other.

Montana State IS what "they" think Montana is.
