Three is three too many (if that is all there were). That made him appear to be a primadonna to me EVEN IF HE REALLY ISN'T, as I already noted.
The whole point of this discussion is the idea that we should be changing our opinions about him now that he is a Griz. I felt the same way when the Cats were in the hunt and now that they aren't. I wasn't interested in the guy, and I had my reasons. Nothing that you say changes that. Just because I never wanted him to be a Bobcat doesn't mean he's not a good get for UM. Congrats on the recruit, but just don't expect me to change my mind about the guy in terms of MSU now that he has signed with the Griz -- it ain't gonna happen.
And yes, the 20 was hyperbole. If I thought you would take the time to look it up, I would have noted as such and saved you the time.
Who has asked anyone to change their opinion on Swogger? No one in this thread.
So you don’t want to have any information public before any recruit signs with their team?? I have seen post from you excited about potential cat athletes.
And I knew it was hyperbole. I don’t like it when fans (including GRIZ fans) unfairly caricatures any student athlete. I have read most of your post over the past 2 or 3 years and you always come down of the side of fairness and civility. I was surprised you would label a player a primadonna when if fact that isn't the case.
To clarify -- he came off to me (as in it is my perception or opinion at a gut level) as a prima donna. However, in my posts, I made it very clear that I was not calling him a prima donna. I tried to clarify the difference between labeling somebody as being vain as opposed to saying that it came off that way to me (and stressed that it might have been an unfair characterization due to the presentation as opposed to his character).
I know nothing about the guy -- I just know that I was turned off by the whole thing and didn't want him at MSU.
As to the intent of this thread -- I started posting to point out that many of us had been consistent the entire time (pre and post Cat involvement) in response to the suggestion that we were being unfair to the guy because he signed with the Griz. Well, it was more a partisan "you Cat fans" sort of thing, but you get the picture. So my whole point of posting was to stress that my opinion had not changed based on who "won" the recruit.
And yes, I like to get information about recruits ... but not a series of quotes about where he's been, who's kissed him bum the best, what percentage odds there are he'll pick a particular school, whose recruiting methods he likes the most, yada, yada, yada. Especially from a guy who is essentially putting himself out as a mercenary (unless a case can be made that he was factoring in the quality of his education into his decision, and that the schools he was looking at were better than Wazzu). If the process is going to be dragged out like that, I'd personally not hear anything until he makes up his mind. Otherwise, it gives the appearance that he's using the press as a negotiating tool and to bring attention to himself. Again, that's my perception based on the way it was presented in the press.
Now that it is over ... I'd actually be happy to never speak of it again (and wish I hadn't in the first place). Let's just celebrate the fact that it is finally done!
