McGillis update
As one who's on record as stating that the hype over Jack was greater than his talent, I just wanted to update his past few weeks at Oregon State:
In the Beavs last 7 games, Jack is 0-7 from the floor (0-3 on 3's), 0-1 at the line, pulled down 2 rebounds, dished out 3 assists, made 1 steal, and comitted 3 turnovers.
At this point, I still think all the furor over Mick and Krysko not signing this kid was & is unwarranted.

Are you implying that if you aren't starter material when you are a freshman, that you will never be?

Damn I go out and do some christmas shopping and my name gets dragged all over.
For the record, I stand by my assessment / belief that McGillis is /was better than the majority of highschool players Durham and Krysco.
BTW Swilly .................... Go away or at least take your ****** over to the Smack board.

Swilly and El Gato,
I feel sorry for you two that you are very bothered by Jack McGillis's successes. You both sound like you are about the same age as Jack and probably got you asses kicked by him in the gym a time or two. If someone would have told you a year ago when there was a lot, or excuse me, Pages of McGillis topics on here, that he would get a Full-Ride scholarship to a PAC-10 school, you would have called them crazy. Actually, I think that did happen, I'll have to search and check. But I guess to sum things up, I think that Jack is probably better off than the two of you. Maybe you guys prefer sitting in front of your computer and pointing out everything sub-par about McGillis, but I think I would much rather be playing games on National TV against some of the best competition in the Country and in front of huge crowds. But that's just me. My advise though is to not let Jealousy consume you, I've heard it makes for a miserable life.

while swilly may not be one of my favorite posters because he does the typical come over on our board and post his crap, i do have a problem with this post. all of us on all the boards talk about the success and failures of "our team". it's what these boards are for. so, if swilly is jealous of mcgillis because he is playing in the pac 10, then we are all jealous. every one of us wishes we either had the chance, or could go back to our playing days. we all wish we were on the floor playing for the cats or griz. and who wouldn't want to suit up for either team on the football field? i see where you were going, but you way of getting there isn't accurate. or maybe....all to accurate, but all too accurate for anyone who has ever posted even once!KitCat wrote:Swilly and El Gato,

And I would argue thart on a heads up basis he would he would out perform UM's Sharp, Swift and Schwhatever.Another Arrogant Griz Fan wrote:Montana is better than Oregon State. Just because he got a scholly from OSU doesn't mean he could win a spot on the Griz roster.
The thing is you can not prove me wrong and I can not prove you wrong, the only thing we can do is wait 2-3 years and see what becomes of these athletes.

Thank you, Finally I have something to agree with you on. I am not jealous of Jack and I wish him the best, just not on the basketball court. I think he is a flop so im going to keep with my opinion and if he turns out to be a 15 point a night guy, good for him and good for missoula. My opinion is where it is....whitetrashgriz wrote:while swilly may not be one of my favorite posters because he does the typical come over on our board and post his crap, i do have a problem with this post. all of us on all the boards talk about the success and failures of "our team". it's what these boards are for. so, if swilly is jealous of mcgillis because he is playing in the pac 10, then we are all jealous. every one of us wishes we either had the chance, or could go back to our playing days. we all wish we were on the floor playing for the cats or griz. and who wouldn't want to suit up for either team on the football field? i see where you were going, but you way of getting there isn't accurate. or maybe....all to accurate, but all too accurate for anyone who has ever posted even once!KitCat wrote:Swilly and El Gato,

Kit,
Let's see... I played my last High School BBall game approximately 27 years ago. So no, I never played against McG.
I did, however, watch him play several games against some really bad Flathead teams; teams that a future Pac 10 player should've ripped for 30+ every time he faced them. Jack couldn't get that done, however.
I have really no specific feelings toward McG; positive or negative; I really couldn't care less about a kid I don't know.
My problem is with (and my comments directed at) those folks who routinely blast Mick & Larry for "letting one get away". My point is that IMO his High School career and what he's accomplished thus far at OSU doesn't warrant the uproar some posters have caused (sorry, mslacat; we have to agree to disagree on this one) regarding the Cats & Griz not signing him.
McG may very well end up being a good or even great Pac-10 player. By the same token, he may well end up fulfilling my prophesy and leave OSU in a year or two because he can't get himself on the floor. That remains to be seen; thus far, I simply have no problem with Mick or Larry not offering him.
Mick might deserve some/most of the criticisms directed at him, but not in this particular case, IMO.

Your arguement that McGillis is a star in the making is that he scored 7 points against Texas-Pan American? Are they even a real team? I really don't know a thing about McGillis. I've never met him, I've never seen him play, all I know is that he may be the most hyped player in the history of both Bobcatnation and Egriz.
