What is the cheapest place to buy airline tickets?

So far I've researched Orbitz, Travelocity, Travelworm, and Cheaptickets. Does anyone else have good/cheap websites?

Hotwire.com sometimes has good deals. You just can't pick the specific time you fly during the day, so you have to be flexible.

I usually use it more for hotels and rental cars, as there is a lot less risk involved with those (as far as I am concerned).

Priceline.com is pretty good if you don't care about the airline that you fly on.

Booked a flight to Vegas in March, checked all the discount sites, then just for fun went to Delta.com, the ticket price on Delta cost $25 less than the lowest I could find anywhere else (Expedia) for the exact flight, and I could pick where I wanted to sit.

Living out here in the middle of the Pacific, my family and I have done a LOT of flying in the past couple of years.

Those experiences--of flying back and forth--has shown me research, as with buying anything of significant value, is the key. I've used all the "clearing house" web sites, and I have used the airlines themselves. It really depends upon the timing. Check them all to make sure you've got the best deal available (a browser with tabs--such as Firefox or Safari--is great for quickly jumping between price quotes).

I'm surprised with you living in Missoula that you didn't use Allegiant Air. $99/person round trip all the time as long as you don't mind flying in on either Thursday or Sunday.

fyi for anyone wanting to travel check out either www.southwest.com
or www.jetblue.com. you might have to do some driving to the airport but i scouted a ticket from LV to Boston for about 320 bucks round trip, just do not expect inflight meels appearantly

Didn't fit with my schedule, or else I would have. I'm going to the RE/MAX Convention, I'll be there for one week starting on a Tuesday. It actually wasn't that much more for me to fly Delta. And I could be incorrect, but isn't that $99 a one way, not a round trip? Not sure there. My tickets cost $268 round trip, booked them in Sept.

Thanks for the great ideas everyone! I ended up booking a trip to North Carolina using cheaptickets.com for $296. This was over $100 cheaper than any other sites that I used. Of course I have two stops (Boise and Phoenix) and have to stay the night in Phoenix, but that will give me a chance to party with a college buddy down there.

Use orbitz deal saver. You can name your price and when Orbitz finds a deal that is close, they wil email the price.

I just purchased a ticket from Cheap Tickets. Saved about $100 and got the shortest fight time availabe.
