Apparently, Alex Spanos, owner of the San Diego Chargers, is donating $10 million to CSUS for a new arena and recreation center.

This is really great news for Sac State. I've been to that gym and let me tell you, most high schools (even class C) have better facilities.

A portion of the $10M appears to be going to renovate the football stadium as well, which is great news. It is a great field and area (nice parking lots, nice atmosphere, etc., but the superstructure of the stadium could use a lot of work. Right now, it is essentially a grid of one inch pipes supporting bleachers and wrapped in a green mesh fabric to give the appearance of a solid structure. It could really be a nice facility with just a little work and money -- hopefully this gift takes them to that level.
Things are definitely looking up for CSUS.
I hope Spanos' politics (whatever they may be) don't clash with anybody's in Sacramento.
