Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Well it was exactly painless, but the new BobcatNation is finally here. I've said it numerous times but will say it one more time, thanks for the patience during the unexpectedly sudden upgrade and downtime. The board is for the most part the same, but you will see a lot of new features as well. I still have a fair amount of things to get implemented on this new board so you will see other things pop up here and there and I will update on this thread as I add anything that will effect you the users.
One note is that for now Tapatalk is not enabled here. I am not 100% certain that I am going to re-enable it, but we will see. For those that did use tapatalk I encourage you to try visiting the site in your mobile browser as this site is much more mobile friendly now.
As always please let me know if there are any issues or if you have any feedback.

One note that you will probably notice is that the tweet, youtube and hudl video buttons in the post editor are gone. With the new site these are no longer needed. Posting the url to any of those (and many, many other media sites) will automatically embed this in the post. There is a "Media Embed" button that looks like a computer monitor that can be used to wrap those URL if you desire, but it shouldn't be necessary.

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
I use Bobcatnation a lot at work on my down times, it is currently blocked by my sonicwall because it appears to be connecting through Greece. I was just wondering if that will be resolved or if I have to bribe my tech guy to let it through?

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Connecting through Greece? Where/how did you find that it was doing that? The server that it resides on is located in San Francisco area. Routing on the internet can go anywhere to get to it's destination but I would be a surprised if it was routing through Greece. Doing a trace route here at my location takes me pretty directly to the server without any suspect routes. I will look into it, but any other info you have or if anyone else is having issues and can give me more info it will definitely help.

Screen says
"This site has been blocked by the network administrator settings.
Block Reason: Gateway GEO-IP Filter Alert

Tech guy is a Griz fan but he has never blocked this site before. I can always use work arounds or wait until I get home. Thanks for the response.

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Ahh, thank you. So it is checking some online databases that map IP addresses to physical locations. I just did a similar check and it looks like a few of them do place our new IP in Greece while others show US. The host for our server has locations around the world, so my guess is the IP's get reused. I will contact them to see if we can do anything to resolve this.bob12 wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 12:28 pmScreen says

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Thanks, I definitely want feedback on that. I'm not yet personally sold on putting back on the site as it is a bit of a pain from a management standpoint and the usage numbers I saw were overall pretty low.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 8:17 pmJust wanted to cast a vote for Tapatalk — I love it. If there becomes enough interest I will go that way but I do encourage people to at least try using the website on mobile now and just see if it meets needs. There are a lot more features of use through the site than can be found in tapatalk's implementation. You can even pin an app shortcut to your homepage to get directly to it if you want.

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
I finally gave up and tried to see it I could log on with the old website. Tapatalk won’t let me log on at all. I prefer the bobcatnation site actually. So after being away from tapatalk for a month is there an issue and what do you prefer.

I have been a user of Tapatalk, I am willing to try something else. What will be the best way to view the site? I am not a complete idiot when it comes to this stuff, but definitely need a little advice and a push sometimes! Lol I also only view the sight on my iPhone, so which will be better? Thanks for all that you guys do for this sight

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Hopefully I can make this super easy for folks so that you can enjoy BobcatNation.com on your mobile device easily. As Kevin said, this new one works great on mobile and is light years ahead of dealing with Tapatalk.spring creek cat wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 9:42 pmI have been a user of Tapatalk, I am willing to try something else. Step 1:
Open bobcatnation.com within the browser of your smart phone. Usually Safari on an iPhone and Chrome on Android devices.
Step 2:
When on the page if you're on an iPhone look at the bottom of the screen for a few icons left and right arrows(back and forward buttons), a box with an arrow pointing up, an open book, and two boxes. The middle one(box with an arrow up) is the one you want.
Step 3:
When you've touched that icon you should see a bunch of options including a row that shows message, mail, reminders, etc.
The next row down shows things like Add to Reading List, Add Bookmark, Add to Favorites, and Copy. If you swipe to the left a little bit you'll see an option for "Add to Home Screen", hit that and you'll get a really sweet icon right on your phone that will always take you right to the site just like an app, but better!!

I was a Tapatalk user. When I saw it wasn't working, I didn't go to the website, because my phone always tries to push to Taptalk when I go to the website from my phone. I figured it would be the same. But I will definitely give it a shot now.

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
Each time I attempt to log in on my iPad through Safari, It states "You have specified an incorrect username. Please check your username and try again. If you continue to have problems please contact a board adminstrator." I am using the same username and password that I used to connect with my desktop. What am I doing incorrectly?rtb wrote: ↑Thu Jun 21, 2018 10:30 pmHopefully I can make this super easy for folks so that you can enjoy BobcatNation.com on your mobile device easily. For me on the laptop, the bobcat logo on the left is a dark blue when I have unread comments, and white if there is nothing new.spring creek cat wrote: ↑Fri Jun 22, 2018 8:20 amHow can you tell which topics you have read and which ones have new comments

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
I'm a Tapatalk user. For selfish reasons I'd like to see it continue, but at the same time it was never fully functional on BN. Embedded tweets didn't show up so you had to view it in browser.
In my perfect world, Taptalk works 100% and I never visit the site on a mobile browser. I like the layout of Tapatalk, but most importantly, when you tap into a thread you've read that has new replies, it takes you to the last spot you read. Very helpful on the bigger threads, you don't have to guess what page you were on and find the last post you read.
That being said, the new mobile site is 100 times better and would ease the pain if you didn't decide to make Tapatalk functional again.
New site looks great by the way!

Re: Welcome to the new and improved BobcatNation
A couple of answers here.
First to see the forums/threads that have new content in them look at the bobcat head logo on the left of the forum/thread. If the head is in full color, then there are new comments. If it is just a white outline then there is no new content. On threads you will also notice a few different icons that can show over top of the cat head. The star means that it is a thread you have participated in previously. A megaphone is an announcement while a push pin is a pinned thread. The flame is a very active topic while a padlock is obviously a locked thread. Finally an arrow is a thread that was moved to another forum.
CelticCat (and everyone else) the ability to go directly to the first new post in a thread is something that was available on the old version of the site and is still available now. If you simply click on the bobcat head logo next to a thread that has unread comments it will take you to the first unread comment. Clicking the title of the thread will take you to the beginning, while if it is a longer thread obviously the page numbers will take you to the top of that page of the thread. Also notice that you can change your settings using the button at the bottom of a thread or the user control panel to sort threads by newest post first instead of the current oldest first if you would like that.
