Return Man for PSU Game

Post by WYCAT » Mon Oct 11, 2004 11:04 am

IMO, as much as I hate to see Ryan Force back there, he should be the man this week. This game should be a defensive struggle and therefore low scoring and a muff or 5 like Williams had against WSU may be the difference. I don't think we can take the chance and give him another shot at it. Force was very steady and I can't think of anyone else who can take over right now.

I know its risky, but I want Force back there returning punts. He is fast/can make people miss and can catch the ball. Turnovers are HUGE and with our offense playing like it is some halves lately, we need every possesion we can I think. Its too important not to have someone back there that can field a punt cleanly. I too think this game this week will be very close and low scoring. We need the possessions and the field position that Force can get us on the punt returns. I would have him in there again if I could (especially if Austin can come in and play this week).

Maybe we should just let the ball land where it does and not even attempt to field it. Just let it be and eliminate the risk of a fumble.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Gatewood returning some balls.

Kramer said on Cats Sports 30 that Force would be returning punts until they can get Mike William's confidence restored, and that they were going to try Gatewood on kickoffs.
