Lulay was a GOOD qb at MSU, absouelty not a great one (maybe for your program but alot of other he would just be a good one)
If a Qb only won 58% of the time at UM he would be hated by all griz fans, look at John Edwards.... He won me a national title and I still dont like him as a QB!
Anyways, lets the cats have there 3 out of 4 years of beating us and let us have our national title appearance and our ESPN games and all that other stuff that people outside of montana care about and lets just leave lugay(haha) out of this
I thought it would be a fun talk, but as usual the kittie fans with very thin skin jumped up and started calling names and saying I was an Idiot. Yet NOT ONE of them could debate any of the facts I brought forward. This is why I've tried to stop posting about this. Just seems like no kitties want to talk.
If they could bring the same facts about a Griz I would agree with them. Its called Objectivity. I just wish the kittie fans would realize this.
I have said several times that I think Lulay was the best QB MSU ever had. I just got tired of hearing that he was like Favre or better then Dickenson. So I checked out his stats and found that he is lacking in many ways. Not a personal attack just, looked at it objectivly. Something most kat fans wont do.
So kitties if you want to call me names and try and ban me by not posting thats fine, it truly shows more about you then me... All I was trying to do was to start a conversation about the Lulay. (MSU's holy grail)
PS I wanted to start this on the main board but KNEW it would end up this way.
PSS A little objectivity is a good thing- try it kitties

Maybe I'm missing something here, but can anyone provide me any proof where a single Cat poster said Lulay was better than Dickenson and/or worthy of Brett Favre-like comparison?
Good luck with that Scats. You're clearly making crap up if you think any Cat fans made either such ridiculous statements.

Ok, you said he's overrated. Now which side of your mouth are you going to talk out of when I remind you that in one of your posts today, you said that if he were a griz, he'd have taken them to Chatty.
You said that right? Now does that mean he's only overrated because he's a Cat yet he'd be of heroic status if he played for the griz?
As for naming them, I feel that my first post in this thread refutes some of your logic. In other words, he's not and never will be regarded as overrated by any Cat fans. You will never understand that nor ever be convinced of that so you should just let this die.
Outside of yourself and the other poster who is being ignored, which griz fans truly think Lulay was overrated?

Yes I did, but those are two different issues
#1 The posts earlier show why I think hes overrated (5 different points)
#2 that being said hes 10 times better then CB or JW, but as a griz fan Ill tell you they were terrible, HE IS BETTER THEN THEM. So hence a playoff team becomes better.
PS If he was a griz with his career stats, I would still say hes overrated because he NEVER won a big game and lost to terrible teams.

scats, here is precisely why you're an idiot.
Your so-called FACTS about Lulay are TEAM facts, not individual facts/stats.
I think that most non-idiot football fans (which you obviously don't qualify as) would be impressed by the simple FACT I stated earlier in the thread, which DOES give a pretty good barometer of Travis' INDIVIDUAL abilities as a QB:
Of the THOUSANDS of collegiate athletes who have played QB over the last 100+ years, only 4 have thrown for 10,000 yards and run for over 1000.
Travis Lulay is one of them; that is a far better reflection of his QB abilities than the team's record during his tenure.
Now shut up & go away, you stupid ####.

For one, Scats, your original post never said anything about Dickenson or Favre. Get your shi* straight and start thinking about what you really started.

And just how many QB's in the history of college football have started 50+ games.
Divide his stats by 50 and he averaged a little over 200 yards passing and 20 yards rushing. So HE SHOULD HAVE had those numbers. But you dont want to hear that because its objective
You are not

If you think it's such a cop out, why don't you ask the 2 sources you cited. I would be inclined to think that you're wrong. They post on here quite frequently so why don't you just ask them how serious they were.
Admit it, you're arguing for the sake of arguing because you're nothing more than a troublemaker.

Yet
NOT ONE of them could debate any of the facts I brought forward.
If you would have read any of the posts, you would have seen the debate. Open your eyes and read what you should be reading. Not what your grizlzly logic forces you to see.
A quick search found these two gems
Chil0cat "If you're inferring that Lulay will replace Favre, well, I can't think of a better solution!!!!"
Wolfptcat "That is a real great article. With what Travis has accomplished so far, he has to be considered among MSU's all-time great quarterbacks. I'm sure I'm not the first to recognize the similarities, but he's got some real Bret Favre qualities"
Hmm.....guess you have trouble grasping what "tongue-in-cheek" means. If you think they were truly serious in their statements, then you're definitely reaching or you're just naive. I'd say it's more the former.

What proof are you providing? None. You have said nothing to show why Lulay is overrated. Again, if he's so overrated in your NON OBJECTIVE opinion, then why would he take the griz to Chatty if he QB'd there? Why is he overrated if he takes a team fresh off a loss to Central Washington and guides them to shares of the BSC title for that season and a few more times thereafter? Why is he getting invited to the NFL combine? How does he put together a slew of comebacks from his career that resulted in W's? You do realize the Cats aren't too far removed from an 0-11 season right? Overrated doesn't define someone who is instrumental in taking a team that had completely hit its nadir and brought them to the level they are at now.
This isn't a thing for namecalling that you seem to be so obsessed with trying to say. Your stats you are bringing up are true but they in no way indicate a player who is overrated. His efforts have helped turn the team into winners and have recreated a desire for high schoolers to look at MSU to play instead of just um.
Lulay, if anything, has set a template and a standard that this team will continue to strive for and there's nothing overrated in that regard. With the vast improvements this team has made in a matter of 4 years, it's no wonder people like you and a select few other trolls try to downplay what he's done. This team is going in a direction that most griz fans don't like and, frankly, I think that concerns some of you. You react by throwing ridiculous smack simply because someone couldn't bring his team deep into the playoffs or he only won 58% of this games. Nevermind what he passed for, rushed for, what leadership he provided, how many consecutive games he played or snaps he took. He put this school on the map in the state of Montana again and his efforts will never be disregarded by any Cat fan and any griz fan who has a reasonable mind.
Why don't you just admit that you're just trying to stir s*it up and then hide behind the guise that you're just trying to debate?

How so? I think that statement is ludicrous but I'm quite curious how you can make such a statement.
You do realize that both Montana teams are on equal footing right? Both have a new QB, both have experienced RB's with Lex having much more experience, the Cat receivers are new and/or unproven as are the griz receivers.
The defense should be a very strong point for the Cats and I see the griz having a defense that doesn't appear to be much better than last year, especially with the loss of Saenz.

People are saying Lulay was the "savior" of bobcat football and if the Cats go back to way they were before Travis showed up then obviously it was only a 4 year stint and he would have dont nothing.
Now if the Bobcat start making the playoffs on a regular basis, then everybody can call Lulay a savior and say he alot for MSU, much like Dickenson did. DD started a dynasty at UM and that is why he is our savior, but all Lulay did was make two ****** playoff apperances and beat your rival 3 outta 4 times.
you get it now?
