Montana Boys Playing D-1 Basketball

Post by mslacat » Sun Feb 26, 2006 11:51 am

Hey folks I am trying to create a list of current Montana Boy's who have gone on to play D-1 ball. Basically I am looking at Guy's who still have eligibility. This is the list I have. Am I missing any one?

Current

Nick Dissly / Bozeman / Montana State / scholarship
Carson Durr / Roberts / Montana State / scholarship
Casey Durham / Bozeman / Montana State / Walk-on
Kevin Criswell / Colstrip / U. Of M. / Walk-on to scholarship
Jack McGillis / Missoula / Oregon State/ Scholarship
Mike Chavez / Heart Butte, Browning / U. Of M, / Scholarship to Walk-on
Jordan Hasquet / Missoula / U. of M. / Scholarship
John Seyfert / Stevensville / U. of M. / Scholarship

Will next: year.
Chase Sukut / Billings / Sheridan JC/ Wisconsin Green Bay/ Scholarship
PJ Owsley / Bozeman / Salt Lake CC/ Offers on table/ Scholarship

In addition to these guys, I have Craig Henkle who was a scholarship player @ E. Washington before transferring to Carroll, Brain Lynch who played for U of M before transferring to a d-2 school in Washington, and Wes Moralis who walk-on at MSU, but transferred to Rocky then Western.

Right now there are a few players on JC teams in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming that are freshman right now who may add to this list.

Am I missing anyone?

Merely details, but I'm pretty sure Gary Lynch transferred to Carroll and played his last two years there a couple of years ago. Younger brother Brian may have been the one to transfer to Washington now and is still playing.

Not a "true" Montana kid, but Micah Downs played two (?) years of high school ball in Butte and Whitehall, and is at Kansas now. (His senior year was somewhere in the Seattle area, though, and that's where he lists as his home.)

EDIT: and Celt beat me to it. :)

Micha Downs played for Butte high his sophmore year. Was a decent player, definately some one who looked like they maybe Big Sky Material by his senior year, but I would have never guessed top 15-30 high school player material.

Now that I think about it, I'm not sure he played there. I know he transferred to Whitehall for at least part of a school year before he moved to the Seattle area, but he may have transferred to Whitehall after hoops season was over...

There is a kid from Culbertson who plays for Lehigh. I saw him play against Washington this year and he represented himself very well. I can't remember his name though.

James Anderson, from Culbertson, plays for Lehigh. The 6'7" senior plays about 15 minutes a game gathering nearly 4 rebounds a game and scoring a little less than 3 a game. I have no idea if he is on scholarship. He has two starts this season. All stats are courtesy of Lehigh's website.

Interesting! I never heard that he left Kansas. From everything I had read, he was doing fairly well there (from a basketball standpoint, anyway).
