Bobcat Volleyball 2021 Season

The Bobcats finally opened their season today, and they did it in style with a road sweep of the unanimous preseason conference favorite Northern Colorado. That breaks a 29 (!!) game losing streak against UNC. Go Cats!

Great hustling team with a lot of talent. Lost a hard-fought match 3-2 vs NAU on Saturday, dominated on Sunday with a 3-0 victory! On to Missoula.

Oh man. I totally pulled a WBB Cat/ISU and turned off the volleyball match when I thought the game was over and the Cats lost. Guilty af.

Anyway, the good news is the Cats move to 7-2 and remain in complete control of their destiny. I encourage all Cat fans to watch on Pluto tomorrow at 8:00. You won't be disappointed.

Started at 5 MST. Looks like they’ll lose first set to PSU. I really used to enjoy MSU volleyball. We had a friend on the team and followed closely, even tagged along on a couple of road trips. Then I got hurt and the team fell on tough times. I got to finally see one match last October before we moved. Coach Daniel Jones definitely had something going! Exciting to see. PlutoTV used to be so bad, and my TV small enough that TV was not an option for volleyball. Now, PlutoTV is HD and I have an adult-sized TV. @CatBot, thank you so much for calling my attention to this game!! It’s very watchable, has an announcer, etc. If you’ve never tried MSU Volleyball on PlutoTV, give it a shot! You might become a fan like I did. It’s a great high-energy, high-athleticism game with a ton of strategy. Go ‘Cats!!!

Bobcats defeat the Vikings in four! Epic third set. Match points going back and forth each way. The talent level, particularly at depth, is so much improved. That’s a good volleyball team, and likely getting better. Congratulations to everyone involved.

And there it is! 7th straight victory, although this one only went to 4 sets. That confused me lol. I assumed the match was preordained to go all 5.

This is the longest winning streak since 2003, and next week is on the road against a .500 Idaho team. If this team can earn another sweep, they will play Weber the following week for a shot at the regular season title.

Both Idaho games on Pluto. You all better have a good excuse for not watching.

I love it! My first year was the “The Thunder From Down Under” starring Anne Watts. So now the “Menace From Ennis”. I remember the 2003 team and their streak well. We were living and breathing volleyball that winter. The crowds were nuts! Shroyer was packed like a sardine tin, and it took several hours for my ears to make a comeback after matches. Matches were longer then since rally scoring had not begun. A “side out” could be pretty elusive. What a great game well-played D-1 volleyball is. Even via PlutoTV I could hear some very concussive hits last night. It was very easy to watch and CatBot is right — better have a notarized excuse not to watch the next two games.
