Who is picking the Griz

Post by tetoncat » Wed Mar 15, 2006 3:11 pm

I was just wondering with a lot of us filling out the bracket how many have picked the griz to upset Nevada. I will start by saying that I did.

I picked Nevada. I don't think that UM matches up very well with them, but if they do beat them, good for them.

I think we could see an upset in the making. I would love to see the Big Sky at least make a little wave in the tournament. I guess its a moot point, other than for bragging, if the Griz get pass this game chances of another win are slim to none.

Close to begin with (this is all controlled by the NCAA, much like Donald Trump controls the Apprentice, as more people will tune into an 6-8 point halftime lead) and then Nevada by 17. I do hope all of you guilty of picking the fizzles are in the same pool(s) that I am in!

I've got the griz and Utah State pulling 12-5 upsets. I hate to vote for the griz, but I think they have a really solid team and a great coach that I admire and respect, and I think Larry will have them ready to play. I'll never actually root for the griz, but I think they'll win - and I have no problem using the griz to make a little money!

Hate to say this, but have any of you followed Nevada at all this season? I keep an eye on them, as well as other former BSC teams, just because of that: they are a former BSC team. Let's get past their big man, Fazekas, because he will get his points and rebounds. Their second leading scorer and rebounder is a kid named Marcellus Kemp. As a freshman, Dick Vitale listed him as one of his top ten "Diaper Dandies" in the nation. Didn't play at all last season because of an injury, so he fell off the radar. Came back strong this year, averaging almost 15 points a game. This kid is big for a guard (6'5"), and I don't think there is a single player in our conference that can play toe-to-toe with him, with the possible exception of Stuckey from EWU. He could easily go off against the Griz. The few games of theirs I watched this year I was impressed. Physically team that play both an uptempo and slow-down game. I wouldn't mind seeing the Griz upset them, but I also won't be surprised if the game isn't even close. I haven't filled out a bracket here, but in other brackets, I have the Wolfpack going to the Elite 8

I didn't pick the Griz, but only because of the match-up. I sure wish they would have played a power conference team. Nevada, like the Griz, is just the type of team that I hope does well in this tourny....I hope Boston College folds, and Nevada makes a run.

The Griz will get smoked. My upset team is Utah State with their violent sexual offender.

Shame on you for picking Utah State! [-X Of course, I'm a UW alum.

If there's another darkhorse team who will surprise a few, it's UW-Milwaukee.

DaCats was right about this. It really wasn't even close. Oh. But I guess maybe this isn't what he was talking about.

Thanks to all of the Cat fans for their support.
