Good Joke
The Pope was excited to visit Montana. He was cruising on a seldom
used mountain road in the Pope Mobile when there was a frantic
commotion just at the edge of the woods. A helpless tree-hugger,
wearing sandals, shorts, and a "Go Griz" T-shirt was screaming while
struggling frantically, thrashing around trying to free himself from
the jaws of a 10 foot grizzly.
As the Pope watched horrified (yet smiled due to the irony of the t-shirt), a group of loggers came racing up. One
quickly fired a 44 magnum into the bear's chest. The other two reached up
and pulled the bleeding semiconscious tree-hugger from the bear's grasp.
Then using long clubs, the three loggers finished off the bear and two of
them threw it onto the bed of their truck while the other tenderly placed
the injured tree-hugger in the back seat.
As they prepared to leave, the Pope summoned them to come over. "I give
you my blessing for your brave actions!" he told them. "I heard there was a
bitter hatred between loggers and environmental activists, but now I've
seen with my own eyes that this is not true."
As the Pope drove off, one of the loggers asked his buddies "Who was that guy?"
"It was the Pope", another replied, "He's in direct contact with God and
has access to all God's wisdom."
"Well," the logger said, "he may have access to all God's wisdom but he
sure doesn't know anything about bear hunting!"
"By the way, is the bait holding up or do we need to go back to Missoula
and grab another one?"

Hmm. Not original or relevant... consistent with the direction your football program is headed.
It's marked progress when Griz fans can't talk smack with their team anymore. The real joke is on Billings Griz and his typical grizphan perspective.
In three years, our stadium will be far nicer and more modern than WA/Griz, and it will be because the MSU admin, boosters, alums, and general fanbase organized, busted their butts and got the job done. All the while you Griz fans will be drinking Schlitz in the parking lot of WA/G, watching hunks of the stadium crumble off, bitching about ticket prices, and wondering when Papa Dennis or Big Daddy Edwards is going to pony up for the next big improvement.
Griz fans are like the spoiled, rich kids in highschool. They just don't understand why nobody likes them or their completely assinine sense of entitlement, so they just chalk it up to envy.

Uh, no offense, but if there was a non-subjective way to measure "nicer," I'd bet a great deal of money that MSU's stadium won't be "nicer" than WA-Griz within the next three years. Not smack, just facts...three years is not a long time for that type of change to take place.Charlie wrote:In three years, our stadium will be far nicer and more modern than WA/Griz...

Okay, wait right there.... If you can't read these posts with the intention of using a layman's approach to understanding what is typed, then maybe you should keep your ass in the courtrooms and cigar bars. I know your bag is to come on here and act like and intellectual elite by criticizing inert details of people's posts, but it makes for terrible smack. Plus, we all know that you're not really a lonely, sterile asswipe that acts like a clueless schithead in public (a non-subjective characterization, by the way), so why pretend to be that guy in this particular social setting?
You'd be better off throwing your money at your aging stadium. What you have there in Missoula is:"I'd bet a great deal of money that MSU's stadium won't be "nicer" than WA-Griz within the next three years. Not smack, just facts...three years is not a long time for that type of change to take place.
a) A nice playing surface with concrete piled high around it.
b) A really big lightboard with a heavily used, 20 year old, first-generation jumbotron installed next to it.
c) A paved parking lot.
Don't get me wrong it's a great stadium, but it's not like I'm going to be seeing a "Modern Marvels - Wa/Griz" episode on Discovery anytime soon.
Even if MSU doesn't finish up it's plans for another 5-8 years we'll still have the benefit of constructing our stadium with 15-25 years of technological advancements to aid us compared to when W/G was built and expanded. So, on one hand, while you'll be spending your dough on visible renovations like better seating, luxury boxes, etc., they'll still be tying socks around broken pipes down in the locker rooms, praying that the football team doesn't catch the gout again.
Meanwhile we'll have a virtually all-new stadium to enjoy in Bozeman.
I really hate to cut this short but I gotta get back to work.
No hard feelings, I hope.

10 years is indeed the more conservative estimate, but I think everyone involved with the workings understands that this is an urgent process. If we don't expand and improve our situation for yet another 10 years, then we'll be at the same place we're at now: just a few steps behind the Griz. I realize this isn't a competition with the UM, but that element is always going to be there.Hell's Bells wrote:

Besides, the honchos realize that at the rate our program is gaining popularity it would be stupid to stifle that growth by not aggressively trying to finish these projects within a 5 - 7 year window. So while 3 years may be short on time and long on optimism, the 10 year estimate is viewed as worst case scenario as far as the timeframe goes.
C'mon Hells, be optimistic!
Alright, I really need to get off this site and back to work!

On a side note, I think Montana's stadium is what most 1-AA would want, including MSU. It's a model for the rest of 1-AA.
MSU has a nice stadium, they could add, 2000-4000 more seats and fill them up pretty easy. And w/ Lulay gone, you'll be a running team now. Why not get rid of the grass?

Back to GW Bush's joke, it sucked.

Just that our stadium is in beautiful Bozeman, MT makes it already that much better. Why do you think they filmed A River Runs through it in Bozeman/Livingston even though the story took place in Missoula, MTGrizlaw wrote:Uh, no offense, but if there was a non-subjective way to measure "nicer," I'd bet a great deal of money that MSU's stadium won't be "nicer" than WA-Griz within the next three years. Either that or it was because all those hairy women in Missoula were tubing on the Big Hole river and they thought that would bump the PG rating up to R. I can see his pointjagur1 wrote:Cardiac aren't you a little out of your element posting on the smack section.

Look, here's the deal: you said your stadium would be nicer than ours in three years. Currently, ours is thought by many to be the nicest in I-AA, and yours is a sandbox, so I'd bet against yours being nicer in three years. That's all I was saying...I wasn't attacking an "inert detail" of your post; I was attacking one of the main points of your post. Period.
As for the rest of your b/s -- I can call people names too, but instead I'm just going to assume that what you really meant to say was that you very respectfully disagree with me, and we'll leave it at that.
