Commercials...

Post by catsrback76 » Thu Apr 13, 2006 6:23 pm

As a rule I do not like commericals, but, they are huge influencers of our cultural mindset. Some of them however are brilliant and enjoyable. What commercials do you like?

I love these 2

1. The Verizon Wireless " sticking it to the man" commercial is hilarious. ( all baby boomers GET IT  )

2. The Geico "Cavemen". I love the P.C. tongue in cheek message in that commercial.

Brilliant commercials

I know they only run once a year - but I actually wait for the Bud Clydesdale ads, I love them! :D

The Budweiser ads at the Super Bowl are usually the best. The Clydesdale ads are really the best ones, though. I loved the last 2 years: the donkey who wanted to be a clydesdale and this year's clydesdale colt who pulled the cart. I also like the horse football ads.

Look at his face, it's just scratched to hell.

I love that commercial.

Also, the running of the squirrels.

And that one with the pigeons who tried to shoot poop like machine guns at that car that just got washed.

Ok so my favorite super bowl commercial was the one with the "theft deterrant" cell phone. Two guys are comparing features on their new phones and the one guy says "my phone has theft deterrant... try and take my wallet", and when the other guy reaches for his wallet he throws his cell phone and nails him right on the forehead and knocks him out.  I laughed so hard I cried.

I just saw another one. The Volkswagon " Pimp da Auto" commercials with the German old man Rapster.

The Dial For Men commercial. That song brings a giant smile to my face every time I hear it.

The one where the guy working for "monkeys" was repeated and while on a conversation with a woman in another office she states "I know how you feel. I work with a bunch of jackasses." Classic

Why does Budweiser spend the money to create the Clydesdale commerials that make all the females cry, then only air them once?

The pigeons trying to poop on the Nissan, with the Top Gun theme song a few years ago was the best.

I totally agree - I thought of that one, too, but didn't know if anyone would know what I'm talking about. That whole Ranier ad campaign was killer.

Those Tag Body Spray commercials are pretty funny-especially their disclaimers.

You'd have to be a Seattle Mariners fan but they've got some great commercials on Fox Sports NW for the M's. The new one is a bunch of people jumping in front of someone that might be running, riding a bike, or walking quickly and simulating a catcher/runner crash at the plate. Of course the scenario takes place in "real life" a guy collides with bicyclist, a lady jumps in front of a guy running to a building, another man "blocks" a waiter carrying a tray of food, and the last scene is a guy blocks another guy who is trying to run and catch a cab.

All of the "hits" are simulated to look like a catcher/runner collision at home, after the final scene the screen reads. "We're all Mariners"

I like it.

Ah the Mariners. Disclaimer (just like most things on the west coast more marketing than substance)

So you and the four other Mariner fans in the US have seen these then?

I was a big fan of the commercial (snickers I think) where the guy went in to a job interview with Mr. Dumas and continues to call him Mr. Dumbass. I don't know why, but it always made me laugh, childish humor I guess.

I like the Verizon ads with "Schmitty" the guy who has a job. "Schmitty, do we have a fire extinguisher?"
