What a great win for the good guys. Was texting with a friend last night, who was a big shot with Nike and now does something with basketball down in Dallas. We're both so damn happy for Danny and the fellas. Hope we can start filling the Brick for the team. I remember well, the game weber put Danny in the hospital. I hate weber state basketball.

This team plays with poise and confidence and tenacity, a reflection of their head coaches style. Did you see coach Sprinkle make a point of walking out and giving a Weber player a pat on the backside after he got up off the floor from an injury? I liked that...a lot.

Coach Sprink has been a great hire. The man has really recharged the program. I haven't been this excited about Bobcat basketball in decades!

No doubt! Enjoy him while we have him. Coach is a rising star.

I still remember a couple of comments on egris last year: "our struggles are due to having a very young team. We will find our way back this season. Next year (this year) we will shine. The CATS are not close to us, at least not for the next few years". I am paraphrasing but that was my take...

I can't stand Shaun Rainey. He's always pulling crap like that. After the QF playoff football games, he made a similar comment, downplaying MSU's win and justifying UM's loss, by implying that their side of the bracket was much more difficult, and therefore we had a much easier path to the semi-finals. He always throws in the obligatory "all due respect to MSU, but...." and then proceeds to say something disrespectful. He acts like a loyal little puppy dog when he interviews Hauck. It's more like a cult leader being interviewed by a cult follower, than it is a football coach and a media person.

Maybe as a collective group we can pony up some money to keep Coach Sprinkle in Bozeman. The reason most coaches move on is money. It may be too much to ask though because the money gets huge at the bigger programs.

I'm hoping his Montana roots keep him in Bozeman. With the success of the program this year, he'll be on the radar of schools looking for a new head coach.

That's a tough one, selfishly I'd love to see him stay but if a big program comes calling I think he really needs to consider making that move. He could be a superstar coach in a high major conference, and who knows when those opportunities will present themselves again later on. I think there's at least one really good in-house replacement on staff if it were to come to that.

Yeah, you can't blame him at all if he eventually gets an offer from a bigger program, and accepts it. How many of us would turn down an opportunity to double or triple our income (or maybe even more than that), for doing essentially the same job that you're doing currently, just for a different employer? I consider myself to be a pretty loyal person, but I don't think I'm that loyal. Plus, he's still young enough, that he could take several steps up the ladder still, in which case he might eventually land a job that might pay him 8 to 10 times what he's making at MSU. All we can realistically hope for, is that he'll stay at least a few more years, and keep MSU at or near the top of the BSC. if he puts together a run of 3 or 4 very successful seasons, the MSU job should attract plenty of good candidates, if/when he eventually moves on.

We need to get him to follow the Coach Bin model. Settle down, raise up a family, buy a Car Wash. With all the people leaving the cities, a job in Bozeman might be looking better. Let’s see if President Cruzado can put her legendary fundraising skills to work — and pay a couple of mid-major coaches for the fantastic jobs they are doing with their young athletes, students, and citizens. If facilities (which are much more expensive) are an arms race, let’s make coaches’ salaries at our level an arms race and be out in front. How much would any kid like to come play for “the legendary Coach Sprinkle, now in his 19th year leading the powerhouse Bobcat men’s basketball program.” It’s probably cheaper to pay a coach than to flounder around for nearly 20 years finding another one. That wasn’t much fun.

That really is a fantastic analysis. Paying a great coach enough to stay more than pays for itself with tickets sold and booster support.

Weber has kept Randy Rahe using this model...I'm pretty sure he's the highest paid men's b-ball coach in the league.

You got it. And prior to Covid, Weber was averaging close to 7K fans per game. That pays for a LOT of salary.

Since we are all praising Sprinkle (rightfully so), it still boggles my mind that Fish only ever won one tournament game with Tyler Hall and Harold Frey in the same backcourt.

Yep. Being a student during that run I was always baffled the fact that there were 3 professional basketball players on that roster and depth that was nothing to shake your head at. I was blown away we never could make a run. Fish seemed like a great guy but something just never clicked with those teams
