WBB vs. SUU

Post by BelgradeBobcat » Sat Feb 19, 2022 5:43 pm

Now that's more like it! A nice comfortable win where we even stretched the lead in the 4th quarter. No leads blow today. We led wire to wire. Defense was so much better than Thursday night. SUU shot less than 30% I believe. They also missed a lot of free throws which was nice. We missed a lot of close in but contested shots-so our offense wasn't stellar, but it didn't need to be because our defense was so good. SUU has a couple of maulers that somehow stayed eligible-elbows flying everywhere.

4 in a row on the road. It'll be a tall order to get the number 1 seed, but we should be in good shape for a bye.

I think a bad case of airplane legs in Cedar City. It appeared there that we were the better team with better depth, we just ran out of gas. Now, it’s been shown. Great game, everyone. Ten deep, no problem. I thought the officials did somewhat better than at SUU, at least as far as not letting total chaos ensue. @BelgradeBobcat said it just fine — a couple of maulers, and they did get away with a lot of their stuff. The “charging” foul that Ava absorbed should have been adjudicated as a possible flagrant. Somebody had a grudge. Huge congratulations to Kola, with some really strong plays to start the game. What 6’-5” center? And another strong game from the best guard in the conference, our own Darian. She ran the offense well, staying within herself, directing the ball to where the best opportunity was. And she was a total pain on defense all day. Gabby with an NBA three-pointer on Senior Day. Ashley dropped a couple. An excellent team win.

Yep…solid game. Ya think maybe they wanted revenge?? Looked like it was headed for a 30 point victory….up 24 with about 2 and a half min. left to play and they pulled their foot off the peddle. Defense tough all game and kept it up in Q4….held them to 16 points the entire first half. And if you want to talk about a turn around….SUU outrebounded Bobcats by 23 in game 1 and last time I looked at the board during this game the ladies outrebounded SUU by 11 at that point.

Gosh the Senior recognition in the conference room after the game was heartfelt and emotional. Binford and the other members of the staff have built such a positive culture and “family” feel….proud of the ladies. Lot of love and positive on the team. Proud of both Gabbi and Ashley….both ladies went through injuries requiring surgery and costing essentially a season….both could have quit but they kept up working and made it back. Good life lessons of perseverance and overcoming challenges.

You know when this team decides to play the brand of ball they are capable of you get the feeling they could beat anybody.

One of the most complete games they've played. It's fun to watch bodies and balls moving to find a good opportunity. They missed quite a few easy shots which I don't mind because they were the right shot.

Some of the bunnies that were missed were because they hurried. Had they known how much time they actually had, those would have been points. Getting that open was a result of everyone working the offense together.

Great defense from start to finish.

A really fun game to watch and a great last home game for Gabby and Ashley.

Best defensive performance I’ve seen them play in person this year.

Great game to watch at the Brick. 2000 fans on hand. I wonder if MSU had any recruits here? Any potential recruit watching this game today would have to be impressed.

Intense defense. Good luck now on the road!

Great revenge victory. We played great defense, but got to continue to work on getting our shooting percentage up across the board. This road-trip will tell a lot about this team!
