I won't be surprised if any of the Top 7 teams win the tournament. Nobody is dominant, just look at Idaho State who needed a late fourth quarter comeback today to avoid giving PSU their first conference win of the season.bpcats20 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:02 pmFeel like this team is missing something from previous years teams.
Only have gone off on offense just a couple of times. Defense has really struggled in its intensity.
As tough as this conference is I wouldn’t be surprised if we got bounced early in the tournament. Just don’t have the mojo.

Two years ago there was Fallyn Frieje, plus Blaire Braxton. Big-time leader. Gabby is trying but there just isn’t the senior leadership that we enjoyed in previous years with Riley Nordgaard, Peyton Ferris and others. I think we miss Tori Martell more than is obvious.bpcats20 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:02 pmFeel like this team is missing something from previous years teams.

Can’t deny this team is missing something. Going to be an interesting tournament. Defense wins championships…… if that’s true, we’re off to a tough start! If I was playing MSU, I would prepare my team to shoot as many 3’s as possible because our strategy on covering threes is nonexistent!Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:31 pmTwo years ago there was Fallyn Frieje, plus Blaire Braxton. Portland State’s philosophy seems to be the 3 ball and they just might knock someone off in the tourney.Ilikecats wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 10:41 pmCan’t deny this team is missing something. Wasn't available to watch this one and won't bother with the replay. Obviously we ran into a buzz saw on senior night in Missoula. I haven't analyzed it, but I think the best case scenario is being a 2 or 3 seed and being on the opposite side of the bracket to ISU and um. The women's tournament is pretty wide open. ISU almost lost to a pretty terrible PSU team at home. Sac State might be the dark horse to win this thing.
Do coaches hold anything back at this stage? You don't want to show all your cards the last week of the season if you don't have to. Go into the tournament with a trick or two up your sleeve. We'll see what Binford does. My guess is few to no adjustments for these last two games, but hopefully something at the tournament.

You really should go watch at least the first quarter. I told my wife after our first three attempts at baskets (I hesitate to call them shots) that trouble was brewing. I would say with the exception of Carmen Gfeller that the gris were pretty average. We played possibly the worst first half of the year and amazingly were only down four at the half. What really destroyed us was very low paint production by forcing the ball directly into double- and triple-teams, and Gfeller’s excellent three point shooting. Lexi Deden did about all of the first quarter scoring and maybe her familiarity with the court and hometown fans helped her to settle in. She played well. Sophia Stiles obviously took the matchup with Darian White very seriously after the game in Bozeman.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 11:40 pmWasn't available to watch this one and won't bother with the replay. Good game by the Griz. They played good D, especially on Kola and Darian. Gfeller was outstanding....not often your bigs can hit the threes like that. MSU will bounceback and be ready for the tournament...but as noted this conference is pretty wide open this year....depends on who's hot in Boise.

I think the winner of the league will be one of the following: ISU, MSU, UI, Sac, or um. All have the talent to do it. All of the ability to fall flat and lose in their first game. It's pretty wide open.

Right? I said the same thing!!Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 8:55 pmStarted the game 0-3 with left-handed scoop shots by right-handed players not named Darian. None drew iron and the first went over the backboard. Why does our team have such a love affair with unmakeable inside shots?

One of my biggest pet peeves is saying someone didn’t ‘want’ it bad enough. Will and execution are totally different things.

Our senior night game against SUU was the best performance of the season. I just don't understand why we can't carry that same defensive intensity to a huge game on the road. I have no idea what MSU team will show up in Boise.

Me neither. But I hope it's the one that can actually shoot!
