Danny Sprinkle

Post by Camo_Cat » Wed Mar 02, 2022 4:47 pm

Danny cementing his legend status in Bozeman, leading Bobcat basketball back from the brink. We talk about Troy and retiring his number in football, and the statue of Sonny Holland just outside the stadium. Are we looking the possibility of needing a statue of Danny in the Fieldhouse when this is all said and done?!

He's definitely off to a great start! Unfortunately I don't think Sprinkle will stick around long enough to get that statue.

Coach Randy Bennett has been coaching at St. Mary's of the WCC for 21 years, despite multiple offers to move to bigger schools. Coach Bennett, like Coach Few at Gonzaga, apparently prefers to coach a mid-major school. Maybe Coach Sprinkle will be similarly inspired.

Sprinkle is going to be a great coach and the Cats are having a great year, but I think it’s a little early for statue talk. Going to need a season or two with his own players. First title in 20 years is amazing, but there’s this thing called the Big Sky Tourney on the horizon.

Which players who contribute to this year’s team aren’t Sprinkle’s players? I ask because I don’t know, but isn’t this his third season as coach? Surely some of those players were brought to Bozeman by Dan.

Seattle to Billings to Missoula to Bozeman to Portland to Billings

What a ride

The list of current contributors who weren't Sprinkle recruits begins and ends with Jubrile Belo, who signed with MSU during Brian Fish's last season but never played for him.

Coach Sprinkle has done a phenomenal job this year but the Covid year that allowed Bishop, Adamu, and Mohamed to all come back this season helped him mightily. Next year is going to be a big test, as Sprinkle's big 2021 Freshman class is going to need to step up and fill some of the minutes MSU will be losing from its senior class.

Battle ought to be a contributor.

Can't make up my mind as to which is better - 55-21 or 48-14, but 34-11 will do.

Let’s give some credit to Chris Haslam too. He brought in some studs.

Bobcat athletics is a business to the coaches, school leadership, and players. It's time the fans treat Bobcat athletics as a business too.

If we want to keep Coach Sprinkle and Haslem, we as boosters need to pony up some $'s. The legislature certainly won't do it and that ties the hands of the University.
