MBB vs Sac State

Another important game tonight as the Bobcats host Sac State with an outright regular season championship and #1 tournament seed on the line. Sac State is currently 5-13 and in a 3-way tie for 8th place with Idaho and NAU. They have won their last three games (at ISU, vs UI, vs EWU) coming into tonight so appear to be playing better of late. In the first meeting MSU led by 15 at the under 8 media timeout but needed a missed 3 by Sac State at the buzzer to escape with a 2-point win. Let's hope for a less dramatic finish tonight...Go Cats!

Bryce Fowler has absolutely killed us over the years. Who guards him tonight? He's a matchup problem.

Stat of the day. In big sky conference play, Sac is 4-0 when they score 80 or more. And 1-13 when they score less than 80. Their only win scoring less than 80 is against ISU.

Not sure that means anything, but interesting nonetheless.

It means that unless the Bobcats completely abandon playing defense, they win this game rather easily.

I'm at the game. Brick is filling up earlier than at previous games I've attended this season. Hoping for a big crowd. Let's do this!

Cats may be struggling lately from 3 but Sac State isn't. We're 1-7 and they're 5-9 so far.

Oh boy, MSU not playing well at all offensively tonight. This looks like it definitely won't be the easy win it appeared to be on paper!

Not a good half at all. They shot well, we didn't and here we are. Down 6. Feels like it could have been worse though.

Sac state has shot over 50% from 3 point line the last four games including tonight. We are shooting 21%. Not excited about that. We can’t make a basket from long range.

we are not going to do well in the tournament. everybody is improving and we are getting worse.

One of the most basic elements of basketball is shooting. Right now we can't buy one from the outside. Currently 2-13 from 3. They are 7-15. That's the difference. It's hard to win when you can't shoot.

Yep - a few shots start falling and we go on a run. Defense has largely been solid. Make shots and we'll pull away down the stretch.
