I have checked in on the espn bracketology several times the last few weeks. Never have I seen them have the Big Sky aq above #15. Any chance they get higher than 15?

Re: Bracketology
Unfortunately no team in the Big Sky had a good OOC record against good teams. That is a big factor in seating.

Re: Bracketology
15 sounds right, doubt they get up to 14. The bad record in non-conference play will hold them back. MSU is currently #166 in the NCAA's net ratings, which was 4th in the Big Sky behind UM, ISU, and NAU before today's game.

Those are the women's rankings. The MSU men are the top team in the Big Sky in the men's version at #128.

Lunard of ESPN has had the Cats at 14 the last 2 weeks. Prior to that they were at 13 before the winning streak ended. If we win the tourney we will be a 13 or 14. If UNC wins they'll be a 15.

When PSU wins it all, they will be a 16.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Weber was a 14 seed when they beat the Tarheels in 1999.Rich K wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 4:39 pmhttp://www.espn.com/womens-college-bask ... acketology

Harold Arcenaux was on that team. Probably one of the best Big Sky players I've ever watched in person.

Re: Bracketology
For those interested in the potential seed the MSU women can expect, here's the NCAA's net ratings for all of the automatic qualifiers (excluding power conferences) so far as well as the rating of the highest-seeded team left in the conference tournament if it is still going.
Automatic Qualifiers
Albany (America East): 175
UMass (Atlantic 10): 46
Central Florida (American): 16
MSU (Big Sky): 162
Longwood (Big South): 198
IUPUI (Horizon): 68
Fairfield (MAAC): 104
Buffalo (MAC): 64
UNLV (MWC): 81
Belmont (OVC): 50
Jackson State (SWAC): 87
Mercer (Southern): 112
South Dakota (Summit): 34
UT Arlington (Sun Belt): 126
Gonzaga (WCC): 25
Tournament Still Ongoing - Highest Seed Left
Florida Gulf Coast (Atlantic Sun): 39
Hawaii (Big West): 164
Charlotte (C-USA): 90
Drexel (CAA): 83
Princeton (Ivy): 23
Howard (MEAC): 257
Missouri State (MVC): 43
Mt. St. Mary's (NEC): 250
American (Patriot): 189
Texas A&M - CC (Southland): 241
SF Austin (WAC): 63
Looking at this there are two current AQ teams and five possible AQ teams (Hawaii could jump over MSU if they win) with worse net ratings than MSU. Since there are six 16 seeds in the current tournament format it seems highly unlikely that MSU will get above a 15. It's also possible MSU could be a 16 although they should avoid one of the play-in games.

Re: Bracketology
I know it probably won't happen as MSU should end up as a 14 seed and they'll be a 2, but man it would be fun to see MSU get a shot at giving Coach K the final L of his career.
ESPN's Bracketology currently has MSU as a 14 seed playing Wisconsin in Milwaukee. The women's Bracketology has MSU as a 15 seed playing Iowa State in lovely Ames, Iowa.

Re: Bracketology
I don't believe a BSC mens team has ever played in one of the play-in games. This is the first year that the field has expanded from 64 to 68 for the women, so obviously it has never happened there.kcatz wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 8:30 pmMSU01 wrote: ↑Sat Mar 12, 2022 4:02 pmFor those interested in the potential seed the MSU women can expect, here's the NCAA's net ratings for all of the automatic qualifiers (excluding power conferences) so far as well as the rating of the highest-seeded team left in the conference tournament if it is still going.

Re: Bracketology
Well, that would be interesting — my in-laws and most of my wife’s family are Iowa State Cyclone fans. Worse places than Ames. The ISU campus had nice facilities when I was there. That is a really good WBB team, with a long history of success.

Brackets shows are at 2:00 and 4:00 today?
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

To pass the time until 4:00, here's the 1996 Selection Show from the last time MSU made the tournament. Pretty incredible how they just get right to it instead of how drawn out it is today to build suspense.

A little fact from MSU’s game against Syracuse in 1996. Donovan Mcnabb was on the team, although not a starter.

Yale upsets Princeton in the Ivy League which should help solidify MSU as a 14 seed.

Re: Bracketology
Just checked updated bracket predictions. Joe L at ESPN has us at 14 as does SportsNation and Rotowire. However, Dratings.com has us at 13 SEED!! Some of the sites do not have the Yale upset over Princeton recorded. PRinceton was ahead of us. Richmond over Davidson is probably a bad thing as Richmond seems to have a better rating so not sure how that pans out. At first I thought it would help us, but now thinking it hurts us. Sure could have had Davidson win. I think that would have secured a 13 seed. I think 10% chance of 13 seed and 90% chance of 14 seed. I think we would be last team in at 13 seed.
