Unfortunately Troy's 3 primary positions are also just about the only "strengths" the Bears have right now. As much as I'd love to see him in a Bears uniform it seems like one of the least likely landing spots. Love the article though!
As a Bears fan that is exactly why they would draft Troy.
Well my name is Ryan so I'm already halfway qualified for the GM role.
As a longtime and often frustrated Bears fan let me just say, Ryan it is possible that you are over qualified.
As a fellow longtime Bears fan, I agree.

I guess this answers the question of whether or not Troy will be participating in the MSU pro day.

I haven't heard that it will be broadcast but if you are in Bozeman, you can watch the drills that take place in Bobcat stadium.

Yeah, not happening. I made 4 games last year including Frisco but Rio Rancho, NM is a bit too far.

Another good write-up, but I think the thing a lot of these articles overlook when they dismiss the FCS is the levels MSU reached in competition. Sure, an average FCS team doesn't play more than a couple games against top 100 teams in the Massey rankings, but when a player gets far into the playoffs for most of his career, he's playing against some very good competition. I realize it's not the SEC, but I'm guessing MSU's strength of schedule isn't that far off from a lot of G5 schools, which I don't think would get the same criticism. He played three times against NDSU, which most objective observers recognize would be a top 20 to 30 team in the FBS even with the limited scholarships in the FCS. And NDSU thought highly enough of him to double team him on pretty much every play. And I would argue any raw-ness he has should be attributed more to the fact that he only played LB for two years and not to having inferior coaching at MSU. Maybe I'm just being too defensive...

I think we need to be a bit skeptical of some of these evaluations. Afterall, this guy is writing on a fan blog and also works as a claims adjuster. I'm not sure of his expertise in evaluating football coaching or athletic talent. He may be correct in some stuff but he isn't probably a guy NFL teams are listening to.

For sure. I never realized how many amateur reporters and sports anchors there were until this year.

So, this is the second guy from Buffalo to call the Bobcats the Bearcats. It's almost like these guys are just cutting and pasting evaluations, changing a few words, and calling them their own.

Liked this part:
Teams shouldn't be concerned about selecting this small-school prospect, and from the sounds of it, they consider him to be in the mix as one of the top linebackers in this class. Expect to hear his name earlier than you think.

That's an excellent read. The thought of him going in the first round is steadily creeping into my mind.
MSU - 16 team National Champions (most recent 2024); 57 individual National Champions (most recent 2023).

Of course the counterpoint to those stats is the fact that it was against fcs competition. It does show that he is one of the most versatile lb’s though. I still think he is miles away from his ceiling and there’s a chance that a team will gamble with a <50 pick.

I think the shoulder ding will keep him in third, unless a team with maybe 4 picks in top 2 rounds gambles on him
