Re: Golden Coolie Questions
After enduring horrible years during the streak, followed by years of the cardiac cats, followed by teams with incredible offenses hindered by horrible defenses....What will it take for this fanbase to stop worrying so much and realize we are a very good team, a top program, with a coaching staff we can trust?
Vigen has lost exactly 2 FCS games since he's been here. Both to teams who were favored to win. He's part of the longest home win-streak in the country. He made the national championship his first season. We're currently undefeated in conference play. He has a team that lost a ton of talent, a team that many were predicting to be "down" this year and go 7-4, maybe 8-3; on the cusp of going 10-1 and once again getting a high seed in the playoffs.
So again, what will it take for this fanbase to stop sweating the small stuff? I'm not suggesting overall arrogance that we see across the hill in which a team who has yet to beat a team with a winning record is predicting a blowout next weekend. But going into every game expecting that the team we have should win the game?
What do you need to see to carry the same swagger the team seems to carry week in and week out.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
In my opinion, it’s a PTSD-type reaction from a lot fans that have been around for all of those things you listed. Living through the streak, being upset as #1, a few years of complete inability to stop anyone on 3rd and long (which were all little many let-downs each game). So my answer is: Time. There are so many more examples of things going wrong and breaking fans hearts than there are of examples where the Cats “can’t” lose. So every time there is a crack in the armor, it evokes the “here we go again” response, because those examples aren’t that far in the rear view mirror.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Thu Nov 10, 2022 9:43 amAfter enduring horrible years during the streak, followed by years of the cardiac cats, followed by teams with incredible offenses hindered by horrible defenses....What will it take for this fanbase to stop worrying so much and realize we are a very good team, a top program, with a coaching staff we can trust?

But for me personally, even as things were falling apart at NAU, my gut just felt that the Cats would still find a way to win. I realized I hadn’t felt that way very many times.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Is our consistent run game due to a better overall o line this year or the change to more outside zone run scheme.
Can we complete quick passes to te, to offset the heavy blitz scheme.

What was the preverbal straw that broke ESPN’s back to opt for GameDay in Bozeman? This effort’s been going on across the Big Sky for a couple years. What ultimately do you think tipped the scales?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
With all of the recent discussions about the FCS selection committee decisions, does anybody know how the selection committee members are chosen? Are they nominated and voted on, or do they just volunteer? Also how long are the members on the committee? Does it rotate among schools?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Aside from the #4 seed, which we all know was ridiculous; do you really hate this draw?
I’d LOVE a rematch with Weber. Even if it’s UND, it’s a game we should win.
William and Mary next possibly? Don’t know a thing about them. I feel confident though thinking we won’t end the longest home streak in the nation to William Mary.
SDSU? Very good team. But we knew we had to go through them before the season started.
So long question short. Ignoring the stupid seed, for a team as talented as ours, did we really get an unfair draw?

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
Agree with most of this... and once Sac beat UCD I knew a top two seed wasn't possible, which would have been our best case scenario. So now you look at the best chance for us to have another home Semi game and history shows it's more likely Sac stumbles than SDSU. I'm actually not please with having to likely play Weber again in our first playoff game. Yes I think we will win, but it will be a MUCH tougher game than several other team out there that they could have matched up with UND. Weber beats at least ten teams in this playoff field but 30 points. The Big Sky is a damn tough conference.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 1:32 amAside from the #4 seed, which we all know was ridiculous; do you really hate this draw?

Don't hate seed. Do hate Weber as potential draw. They have been top 10 all year with losses to 2, 4 seeds. That should not be first game for any of top4 seeds

W&M is the top team out of the CAA, one of the top 3 FCS conferences. When we make this run, nobody should question that the Cats are for real.ilovethecats wrote: ↑Fri Nov 25, 2022 1:32 amAside from the #4 seed, which we all know was ridiculous; do you really hate this draw?

More athletic Oline hence the maximized ability to run outside zone. They also aren't JUST athletic. Our starting 5 plus Wehr and Omar play with a good amount of nasty. They're punch is outstanding and they move their feet upon contact really well.

Defensively, what has changed since the NAU game?

Current Weather Underground prediction for game conditions is 10 degrees and 15 to 20 mph winds (-10 wind chill). As Great Falls natives, you know that feeling.

What do you call SDSU defensive linemen being pushed back from the line of scrimmage by the MSU DONJOY mafia?
A receding hare line.

Re: Golden Coolie Questions
1) Is the matchup this weekend the de facto championship game?
I feel like whoever wins this game wins the championship game.
2) Without Troy Andersen can our defense consistently keep the tight end from SDSU in check and keep their running back from exposing our defense on off tackle runs?
