Pearl Jam

Post by rtb » Wed Jun 07, 2006 9:48 pm

So with today's political discussion the whole Pearl Jam discussion has prompted me to ask, has anyone purchased the new album? If so is it something I should buy? I keep thinking about it, but it takes a really good album for me to buy the whole thing on iTunes.

I just got the new Chili Peppers album, it is great! I recommend it to anyone.

I bought it, but I'm also a HUGE fan (my avitar is a pj logo). I dig it a lot, hasn't come out of my cd player a lot since I got it. Definatly a lot of political messages, but I can listen to it start to finish without skipping any songs. It starts off with the first five songs rocking pretty good and then slows up a bit on the last half, but that's probably the best half. It's a lot better than the last two albums and would recommend it. I got the new TOOL album at the same time and it wasn't doing anything for me. I could share a song or two if you'd like, but I would get it if i were you...which I'm not.

I bought it & love it also. I prefer the 2nd slower half also. There is a song called Come Back which has lots of raw emotion that I keep listening to over & over.

Completely agree, between that and Inside Job, i could listen to those two all day long because of how powerful they are but overall I love the whole thing! The only song I'm not really sold on yet is Parachutes, but it has a pretty Beatles-isque sound to it and isn't bad, just not a favorite. I'll be heading out to the Gorge over the 22nd and 23rd of July to see them. Plenty of lawn tickets left if anyone was thinking of going! It's gonna be fun!

Hello Kitty...nice crazy mary reference...even though it's a cover

And who is this Joe Nichols character that people speak of? Seriously!

Sorry-- I have to vote for Bruce Hornsby and the Noisemakers! I will be there with bells on when he plays Seattle in July at the Winery!!! Great improv jazz and folk pop.

The black crowes are going to be in Billings this summer so that should be pretty cool.
Unless now you are going to tell me that hard to handle is a cover.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like fun and an awesome show...naturally I have a wedding that I'm in that weekend in Helena so I'll be missing out. Sucks.

At least I'll be able to go to Pearl Jam at the Gorge. I had three weddings in a row starting the weekend AFTER!

Sounds good I will have to check it out! Maybe you should send me your two favorite songs from the album for me to preview before I make the buying decision coach.

I have a wierd variety of music and also listen to a lot of country. The new Brad Paisley CD is one of the best CDs I own. There isn't a song on there that I don't like. It was in the CD player for about 3 weeks straight and then I replaced it with an old Cake CD and some 50 Cent. See what I mean about my wierd taste?

Wow, you are kind of all over the place, but so am I. I'll send you a couple of songs tonight when I head home tonight. You can go to pearljam.com and watch their "Life Wasted" video which is the first song on the cd. The video is a little creepy, but a good song. Also, shouldn't be too hard to find Worldwide Suicide (song 2) out there since they gave that up as a free download. PM with the email address you want these sent to Randy and I'll get them to you tonight.

Highly recommend it - it will probably end up being my 2nd favorite PJ album... I'm a huge fan. Also recomment the latest Foo Fighters album. Those 2 have been sharing time in my player recently...

What's your favorite if you don't mind me asking?

RTB, did you end up getting the album this weekend?

Actually I went and bought it the night you sent me those two songs to preview. So far it is great! I haven't been in my truck enough to listen to all the songs a lot, but enough that I really like the CD. Thanks for the advice!

Glad to hear there are so many PJ fans on this board. I have not taken the new album out of my changer yet either. I think "unemployable" is my favorite so far. I love Matt Cameron's little fill ins.

I don't think any PJ album could ever top TEN or VS but this new one is close.
