WBB at Maui Invitational
Is anyone else watching WBB vs LSU from Maui? The link that was in the schedule worked fine for most of the first half. It’s an Oregon State feed as they are the tournament hosts, but it quit cold with about 5 minutes to go in the second quarter. Any hints?
‘Cats went down 6-0, bounced back to like 35-28, and got swarmed in their typical pre-halftime swoon to make it 48-30. When Kola got her third foul things went bad quickly. Darian has no points and has effectively been eliminated. LSU is huge! That’s the Mulkey style — pummel them.

I can not get it anymore either. You can listen on KMMS 1450 in Bozeman…..streaming on their APP. 58-37 mid Q3.
LSU playing strong. LSU posts killing them. Big and good athletes.

LSU 91-52. LSU shoots 52%. MSU about 30%.
Rebounds….LSU 47 MSU 24…….we still don’t compete well on the inside. LSU dominant inside.
LSU shows why they are ranked 11.
But the Lady Cats competed hard. They didn’t look timid and showed good energy throughout. Simply outmanned tonight.

- Angel Reese, the 6’3” All-American from LSU had 30 points and looked every bit the star she is. Dominant all over the court.
- game started with both teams wearing white (strange to watch…confusing)….because the Cats did not have their blue uniforms in the venue…….so part way through Q1…….when the blues arrived, the ladies were quickly changing behind the bench and bleachers as best they could….they will laugh about that someday
- in another thread, several were talking about getting Lindsay Hein working some moves on the inside. Late in Q4, she had some good minutes and made a couple nice inside moves to score. Encouraging to see her doing that and looking for more.
- Darian White reached 1400 points, 500 rebounds, 300 assists, 200 steals…only player in MSU history to reach that plateau

I think you made one very salient point — “They didn’t look timid …” I told my wife the same thing, by saying late that they looked like they belonged. They are athletic enough, run their sets, defend well. They got some good looks with inside-out ball movement, and made some nice cuts and passes inside. One thing they struggled with was not having as much time as usual on close outs — they quickened their shots and unfortunately stayed too fast even when very open, contributing to the low shooting percentage. Because they belonged in this game, I’m sure they benefitted from playing a top-notch team that’s pretty well destroying all unranked teams. Well done. Nevada should look easier compared to LSU. Play loose, play well, and win.

All good comments and I agree. In the Stanford game last year it was a different story but I think that experience taught them something and they came out with a different mindset. In Q1 and early Q2 they made some nice runs to close the game back to 5 or 7 points but that just couldn’t be maintained as the athleticism of LSU took its toll.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 2:07 amI think you made one very salient point — “They didn’t look timid …” I told my wife the same thing, by saying late that they looked like they belonged. Not confident we will be able to watch today. With the video dropping an hour into the game last night, it seems that coverage is only guaranteed for the PAC-12 team in this event. Nothing shown on the Mountain West site and UNR’s site points to the PAC-12 page. Maybe PAC-12 will be gracious enough to start the video feed 3 hours early.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sat Dec 17, 2022 11:48 pmGot this through the LSU site. Working perfectly. Try it out.

The YouTube link provided by Bobcat4Ever above worked the entire game even though the link provided by MSU dropped out,….so give the YouTube a try today. Hopefully Bobcat4Ever will do his usual fine job and send the new link for tonight’s games….hint hint.nevadacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 9:23 amNot confident we will be able to watch today. In fact you can watch both games played yesterday in their entirety….for all the teams. The MSU vs LSU is on the second half of the 4 hour link. …..and the YouTube link actually has Danielle Saille from MSU doing the play by play. He explains the uniform snafu at about the 4 minute mark of Q1 as the Cats are changing into the blues on the bench….seems he read the game sheet wrong and thought MSU was home so they sent someone back to hotel to get the blues. Had to kinda look like a strip show to the fans sitting behind them…….some of the girls started to change to the blues then Coach calls them to go into the game..so they had to take the blue back off to put the white back on. Then they made the full team change during an officials timeout….Ha!

Re: WBB at Maui Invitational
Lost by 40 to Stanford last year; we lose by 40 to LSU this year. SO last year we were the Big Sky champs and this year we are the preseason pick to win the Big Sky. It just shows the Grand Canyon of a gap between the talent level of the Big Sky and top programs from other power conferences. I wish there was some kind of "mid level" division that we could play in, like we do in FCS football. Win the Big Sky, men or women, and what is your reward? Go to the NCAA for a 40 point beatdown.
In football when we win a conference title there is great fun and anticipation of going to the FCS playoffs. In basketball it's a sentence to a flogging.

I had managed to sync the radio feed to the pac-12 stream until it crapped out. I was laughing about the uniform debacle — as an old equipment manager, I can sympathize. Seems like all the ladies ran behind the bleachers to change except one or two, couldn’t tell whom, who stayed right in front of the bench and did the switcheroo in front of God and everybody.BobcatDel wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 10:04 amThe YouTube link provided by Bobcat4Ever above worked the entire game even though the link provided by MSU dropped out,….so give the YouTube a try today. Good on the refs for not assessing a technical for non-contrasting jerseys.

I think maybe I’ll swing by the South Kihei Community Park gymnasium and catch some of today’s game.

12-10 Cats over UNR after one quarter. Sloppy game so far - 8 turnovers for each side.

Search YouTube for “Maui Classic 2022” and you’ll find a live feed with Daniel’s radio commentary. It’s on an Oregon State YouTube page. You can start it at the beginning.nevadacat wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 9:23 amNot confident we will be able to watch today. Even 2nd quarter. Each team scores 13 and each has 5 turnovers. We are forcing a lot of UNR’s turnovers, but most of ours are just gifts. ‘Tis the season, I guess.
25-23 Cats at half.

Found it, thanks to you. Synced up the radio from the app — audio quality on YouTube is bad.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:38 pmSearch YouTube for “Maui Classic 2022” and you’ll find a live feed with Daniel’s radio commentary. I’m not exactly an expert on the game (I was a wrestler). But yep, good seats. Sitting with most of the parents that made the trip.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Sun Dec 18, 2022 8:40 pmShould be able to get a seat. Give us a few live reports?
In my uneducated opinion, the Cats are just a bit cold on the shooting right now. Look more athletic than UNR for sure. Didn’t do a very good job on the defensive boards, giving UNR too many second chances. Nice little momentum run to end the half. Up 25-23
