MBB vs EWU
The Idaho game was a lot of fun. Really nice crowd of about 3,700 during winter break.
Today's game against EWU is pretty big for the second conference game of the season. EWU won in Missoula. They have a talented team. They've given Sprinkle all kinds of trouble. If you're in the area, go to the game!

Should be a helluva game, Eastern has good size for a BSC team. I like our team defense a lot. I like our coaching vs. their coaching staff.

Re: MBB vs EWU
I would be very interested to know the deviation in FT% of teams playing in the Brick. Seems like very kind rims for the opposition every game I make it to...

On a related note I saw a blurb said Cats haven't lost at home in 2022..... so if they win today will be 100 percent for the year.
Great time to be a BOBCAT!

Turns out the other team getting 12 more points at the line hurts....

This feels like every game we’ve played against them. They’ve got a bit of krypotnite against us. Then shooting 90% from the stripe and us 46% doesn’t help either. Of course they hit the step back jumper to tie and the dagger three to take the lead and we can’t answer. Feels like the same song against the eags all the time.

Too many missed free throws.
Belo was surprisingly ineffective against their skinny centers.
Their staff knew our weaknesses better than we did.
But it all comes down to free throws. We're supposed to be the stronger team inside but we kept putting them on the line and we couldn't get there and when we did we missed-not because the game was called unfairly, but because we played poorly.

Was able to attend this game. Very surprised by how many were in attendance. This game was hard to watch. No real flow for either team. Too bad we couldnt get the win to keep our home streak alive. It almost seemed like our guys were out of air, and when they needed to, they pulled the game close, but then got complacent and didnt try for loose balls as hard as Eastern did. Hope we learn tons from this and see many more wins . Brown played a great game at point, i appreciate his defense too.

Bigs were out muscled and out hustled. 18 Second chance points at least 12 were rebounds kicked back out for 3. Out rebounded by a dozen. Poor fee throw shooting so outscored there by 11. Kept going to Battle in final couple minutes and he had shot very poorly.

Was a great crowd but pretty quiet. No students hurt. I know school is out but they really pushed to get a good crowd, then only had one side concession open. Went right as hald ended, had to go to other side, got a beer and pop and missed first 3 minutes of second half.

EWU was 18-18 at the FT line before they finally missed one. During the same period we were 3-9. Battle appeared to be under the weather to me. Started the game by going 0-2 from the line.
The name of the game is still throwing the rock through the apple crate. The better team won. Our last game of the season is at EWU.

I was on the "other" side and it did stink that there were no concessions over there. Also, i was looking forward to picking up a basketball tshirt... nothing was available, besides bouncy houses. I bet there were a huge amount of people who physically could not make it over to buy popcorn or a pop. If students would have been there, it would have been an amazing atmosphere for sure.tetoncat wrote: ↑Sat Dec 31, 2022 10:16 pmWas a great crowd but pretty quiet. No students hurt. Re: MBB vs EWU
Reminded me of last year when we played the griz at home right after our NC football game in Frisco. No students, band, Champ. Crowd was dead considering we were playing UM. But we prevailed.
Not last night though. It's a shame that we had to play one of the best, if not THE best teams in the Big Sky with no students, no band, no Champ.
EWU just came in and swept both Montana teams. As an old time basketball fan I truly admire teams that can shoot the basketball.
I swear if I was a coach I think being able to shoot at LEAST 70% (preferably 80%) from the FT line would be a prerequisite for earning a scholarship. Heck when I played I could consistently shoot 90%. To me if you are a basketball player you need to be able to consistently make FTs. That's why they are called FREE throws! A lot of it has to do with concentration. EWU's team made their first 18 FTs last night.

Re: MBB vs EWU
Against Idaho we were pounding it inside and then getting kick out 3's. Didn't see that against EWU. Not enough emphasis in basketball in general on the kick out 3. It sets the shooter up so much better.
