I'm not sure if MSU becomes the tournament favorite after beating EWU last night, but I feel a whole lot better about their chances of winning today than I did a week ago. Pretty impressive that this year's team actually was able to finish with a better record than last year's team despite the conference as a whole being stronger this year. They'd be champs with a 15-3 record the vast majority of years.

Brown is, I think, the best PG MSU has had since Frey. He’s just so darn good at everything. My only complaint is that he doesn’t shoot enough. I’d like to see him look for his own shot some more.

Not that it is a huge difference in opponents, but the Bobcat men (if they can win 3 more in Boise) should be at least a 14 seed like they were a year ago.

I follow Torvik analytics and they've got MSU at #100 right now and last year's team, even though they won more games, finished the season at #155. So this year's squad has better analytics by a fair amount. Some of this is attributable to the fact that the conference doesn't have so many teams in the 300's like it did last year. Either way, we've got to win 3 in a row to get there, and that isn't an easy task. I have faith in this team considering the way they've finished this month.
I agree. If Cats win it I don’t think they get any worse than a 14. Hopefully they don’t run into a TT team like last year, brutal.

He is really good. One of the best defenders I have seen at that position in a long time.

No doubt can defend like crazy, but he's also a really good floor general, doesn't turn the ball over, makes good passes, and is a more than capable scorer. Has an excellent mid range jumper is, quick enough to beat bigger defenders off the dribble, yet strong enough and big enough to finish at the basket when called upon to do so. And he is one of the better 3 point shooters on the team. Really is a versatile, talented guy and this team is blessed to have him for another season.

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

It seems like a long time ago, but we had a few pretty good pre-conference wins that probably helped our strength of schedule.

Don't get me wrong - I absolutely love what Danny Sprinkle has done with this program. I have been begging for years for someone to bring the spark back to Bobcat basketball. I'm actually amazed at what Danny has been able to accomplish in such a short time.

That said, if I have one knock on his coaching, it's that he goes into the slow-down, stall offense way too early and way too many times when the Cats get a healthy lead. There have been several games where we could have lost it because our stall offense allowed the other team to capitalize. Almost happened again last night. There was no need for that game to be that close at the end. We absolutely dominated EWU on both ends of the floor. Can't afford to do that in the tournament. Get a lead and bury the opponent.
You may say that, but I get the feeling Danny knows exactly what he's doing. He slows down to lessen the touches by Eastern and whomever else can shoot 3's like that. My evidence is the number of close games we have won in the last two years.

Watched the KSU-OK game tonight. Groves did not look like a Big 12 player.

The same head ref that was in Cheney is working the Arizona vs USC game right now.

The announcer for our game said they were a PAC-12 crew. I thought they did a good job and it was nice not to have the same old Big Sky guys for a #1 vs #2 game.

Didn't the Big Sky, WCC and Pac-12 join together to share/train refs awhile back? I thought I remembered something like that. If that is still a thing it's a shame the Big Sky can't get some of the better crews more often rather than the same poor crews. I'm guessing it being a Monday night game probably helped in that regard since there wasn't any WCC or Pac-12 games.
