We should probably also keep in mind that Leon's former employer South Dakota State has a very successful basketball program, so maybe there are some guys from that coaching tree that could have interest and familiarity with the AD. Looks like the three assistant coaches from Leon's last year at SDSU are now Associate Head Coach at Wisconsin, Associate Head Coach at SDSU, and Assistant at Colorado State.

And the Mountain West had a team in the national championship game.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 12:15 pmThey play in a conference that gets 2-4 bids each year, and has been getting better and better every year. The MW was the 4th highest rated conference this season. They played in the conference title game this year and are regularly at the top of the standings. So yes USU is bigger and better.tetoncat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 12:00 pmIs USU a bigger and better level. Conference wise they will get more teams into NCAA. Coaching hire doesn't even make front page of espn website. They lost to Weber.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 11:51 amRobert Ford? I also really hope that Danny doesn't poach Ray or Great. That would piss me off.
If players decide to leave MSU for Utah State, then good for them. It’s not poaching. It’s the opportunity to play at a bigger and better level. That’s fair of them to do too.

Give Sprinkle a chance to coach in a 2-4 bid league, and get ready to watch him every year in the NCAA Tournament.

Looking forward to it! If he gets there next year I'd prefer it not be with anyone named Great, Raequan, or Darius.Bobcat4Ever wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 12:57 pmGive Sprinkle a chance to coach in a 2-4 bid league, and get ready to watch him every year in the NCAA Tournament.

It is hard for me to come up with positives relating to Brad Huse’s tenure. Haslam is undoubtedly one of them. If he is not the new HC I hope whoever is can retain him.

How are the conference rankings based? Other than top couple teams in MW being competitive I don't think any of them finish in top half of ACC, Big 10, Big 12, SEC, or Big East.BleedingBLue wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 12:15 pmThey play in a conference that gets 2-4 bids each year, and has been getting better and better every year. The Net rankings and KenPom is what I usually look at. I belive this year USU, SDSU and Boise would have been in the top half of both the ACC and SEC.tetoncat wrote: ↑Fri Apr 07, 2023 1:21 pmHow are the conference rankings based? USU and Boise, maybe so. But there is no way SDSU would be able to win a game against an ACC or SEC team.
Oh wait …

Nevada and New Mexico are usually pretty strong out of the MWC as well.

NCAA tourney games versus playing teams 2x a year where they know tendencies is a much different thing. League play is tough. UCONN looked unbeatable in Tourney, lost 6 conference games and in Big East tourney.

Re: New Men's Basketball Coach
Boise Sports Talk Radio said Sprinkle will be making more at Utah State than Boise State's coach makes after 12-13 years.

Re: New Men's Basketball Coach
We all remember Monson. Here's hoping the next hire attains something similar to this guy in that he took a conference cast-off to the heights it now enjoys:

Took the money and is retired. Check out both Monson and Few's records since just a couple decades have passed.
