A "physical therapy" question

Post by RickRund » Fri Jun 16, 2023 2:51 pm

After moving out of our home, about three weeks later I noticed this "boob" hanging off my left elbow, fluid on the elbow. Don't know if it is bursitis because it really doesn't hurt. My dr has said he does not recommend draining it due to possible infection. I remember in the old days Dr's always drained "water on the knee". Has medicine changed? He said to just ice it and use a wrap?

What say you all?

Listen to your doctor. If it’s not bothering you, why take any risk, even if small, of getting an infection and creating a gigantic problem? Ice, compression, and gentle movement should resolve the swelling in a couple weeks.

Has the possibility of gout been considered?

Where I used to get my supplements in Livingston the owner, his name was Jim, had gout and his feet would swell. My darned memory...

May have to make an appointment with my doc...

If it was gout, you would know by the severe pain. I started getting it in my 40’s and I am in pretty good shape. Poor diet, beer, certain foods and injuries can lead to gout. It is incredibly painful. I have never heard of a case of gout without pain.

Well, no pain, so that is good news. I do think I have Neuropathy just from a couple of symptoms.

Back when my son was wrestling in High School we were at a wrestling tournament in Forsyth, we got up one morning and my wife had a bump the size of an egg on her elbow, she didn't recall hitting it on anything. We went to the local Hospital and had it looked at and they told us the same thing yo were told. It took about 6 weeks for it to go away completely.

I still have pictures but am forbidden from sharing them

I would ignore whatever the doctor says and follow the advice of a bunch dudes on an anonymous football message board.

Someone on this board had to have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night. They'll know what to do.
