This pisses me off to no end!!!! The problem is I really don't know who my anger should be directed to- aside from Miller.
To think about it Braden commited to Durham two days before another hot shot JC point gaurd commited to the Bobcats. Durham and Carson wanted the other guy but felt it was important ho honor their commitmant. Frick'n honor!!!!! The result we get this joke, Miller and the other kid signs with Pacific and leads them to the NCAA tourney two years in a row!!!!! $^&$@%**%##%*(*&&

Well, this is disturbing and perhaps we can somehow continue to look toward the future. We all have to be concerned and I for one hope and pray we don't look at these last few years of off field events as an indication of the direction our programs are headed, even though when something like this happens, we're going to be held under an extremely close microscope and there'll be a lot of finger pointing. We need to rally around our athletic department now more than ever.

This is so disturbing and upsetting. I am so angry right now that there are people in this world capable of putting so little value on life that they are willing to kill.
I have moved the thread also as I would like to find a way to remove the connection of Miller and MSU, but unfortunately the connection is there.

It sounds like there was at least one more person involved....the person Miller was telling the police was responsible. I don't know how plausible any alibi he has is now that there is at least one witness who saw the deceased on Ferguson, not at Perkins

this is horrible news, wether we like it or not, it will be tied to MSU athletics. People do need to remember that there are bad seeds in every community whether that be a town, univerity or other. The athletic teams are part of the university and although coaches will try their best to figure out a kids character there is no way they can be 100% sure. This sounds like two kids who had great talent and opportunity, squandered it away and could not recover from that, ending up going down the wrong road.

I think that a very disciplined team keeps the players on a good path in life and keeps them away from the wrong crowd. With Huse, this team will be disciplined and news like this won't be there with Huse as the coach. With discipline comes repect and respect yields thoughtfulness and smarts. I think the basketball teams that we will have with Huse will all be good and his influnce will show in their personalities and deeds.
In no way am I saying Durham was a bad coach, I just think the discipline factor was a little weak with the teams in recent years and it is going to be cleaned up. This is a terrible situation for MSU and the people involved and I only see good things for MSU basketball in the future.

Stuff like this always gets associated with a school's athletic department, whether it's fair or not.
Let me be the first to say, though, that I really hope my Griz bretheren on here will leave this alone in terms of talking smack. Scandals in an athletic department are obviously fair game for smack, but a person is dead here, and it would be extremely disrespectful, IMO, to talk smack about this on a message board.

I work as an attorney so that I can afford good scotch, which helps me to forget that I work as an attorney.

Apparently it is drug related and involves several athletes. Not looking good.
BREAKING NEWS: Former athletes arrested in murder probe
By TED SULLIVAN of the Chronicle Staff
Several current and former Montana State University athletes have been linked to an apparent drug-related killing of suspected cocaine dealer Jason Wright.
Former MSU basketball player Branden Miller, 22, and former MSU football player, John Lebrum, 21, were charged Thursday with deliberate homicide for their roles in the shooting death of Wright on June 23.
Both men are accused of kidnapping Wright before he was killed and later destroying evidence of the murder and disposing of Wright's black Chevrolet Tahoe in Belgrade, according to court records.
Miller is being held in Gallatin County's jail on $1 million bail. Lebrum has not had his initial appearance in court.

I don't think much foresight is needed in this immediate case. We are talking about some very obvious hindsight that definitely will sadden anyone who had previously expressed hopes that he would make a successful life for himself.catamaran wrote:I just hope some of those who have rushed to his defense in the past show a little forsight on this one
Outside of a revelation that the the victim was a Al Qeada member and these guys were secretly members of the CIA, I can't possibly imagine any positive spin (relating to Miller and Labrum -- clearly that would make not be positive for the family of the victim, and I am in no way intending that comment as a serious accusation against him) that will ever come out on this matter. Sound just flat-out bad (and stupid) all-around.
