SDSU was tough, but what would have happened without the myriad dumb penalties? and fumbles?

SDSU did not capitalize on any of the turnovers. The only MSU mistake that SDSU took advantage of was SDSU's first touchdown drive where a MSU personal foul bailed SDSU out of a 2 & 17 hole. SDSU could not stop MSU's passing game at all - that was the difference.

My favorite idiotic penalty was when Jimmy Beal tackled the punt receiver long before the ball got there. We sure deserved that one. One could see that Kramer chewed him a new one, but will these guys learn?

The Cat receivers did a great job this week. They caught good passes and bad and ran well after. Blake Wolf reminds me a lot of Joe Bignell; he's a load to bring down.

Wolf is emerging as my hero. If they can't stop the over-the-middle passes we keep running to him, defenses are either going to have to assign someone specifically to guard him, or put an extra guy in zone coverage, or just double team him. Either way, it helps out the rest of the offense a great deal when the tight end is such a threat. Plus it takes like 3 defenders to drag him down.

SDSU makes its case for the Big Sky

I think most of us will enjoy the above article about SDSU's game in Bozeman. He makes some interesting comments about SDSU's ability to compete, and what they have to do to get better, including improving their stadium (makes some nice comments about our stadium).

I'll also post this in my Big Sky expansion thread.

I think SDSU would be a great Big Sky member. I liked their football team and have no doubt that with the additional scholarships, would be able to compete in our league.

But I think most observers of the game Saturday would admit that the Jackrabbits have a little ways to go. If not for a bunch of stupid MSU mistakes-the Jackrabbits would have been blown out. But they were able to stay with a more talented team because they didn't turn the ball over, or make too many big mistakes-that really was the great equalizer on Saturday. They also have a bunch of tough players that refused to give up-a lot like the Bobcats.

They also brought more fans than Weber State and Portland State combined. I think the Dakota schools would bring a lot more passionate support for the Big Sky, and that would be a good thing.

I talked to a couple of SDSU fans at the game. Great people, the fans are a class act, better than most in the Big Sky. I hope we can welcome them into the Big Sky. I felt there team played very well, esp the QB and there RB. Defense just got tuckered out. My kudos to the Jack Rabbits.

I tailgated with a crew from SDSU. They are great people, and I had a blast. I'm not sure I'm gonna like the EWU people nearly as much.

Actually, if it weren't for the running into the kicker penalty, it was a good play. Beal knew SDSU was offsides, and that the Cats would do fine on a replay of the punt. So, drill the reciever, and have the minor penalty offset the major penalty. I see it happen a lot.

Hi guys,

I wanted to add my congratulations to the Bobcats. Sounds like it was a heck of a game. Unfortunately I was unable to attend or even listen to the game due to a family tragedy, this is the reason for the tardiness of my well wishes, however I am hopeful that SDSU will get into the Big Sky and we can do it again sometime. Best of luck the rest of the way and stick it to the Griz. :D

Yep, met some at the Grantree on Friday night and we made our way down to the Crystal that night. I talked to a whole bunch of fans. VERY NICE fans. They reminded me a lot of Bobcat fans (Oh boy, here comes Bronco on this one  ), very casual/easy going fans. SDSU is a very good fit for the BIG SKY .... NO BRAINER!

I'd love to see both the Dakotas get into the BSC. No doubt that those games would become intense rivalries right from the start. However, I can see where the other schools outside of the Montana/Dakota territories would see them joining as "less than ideal" from a travel standpoint.

Compared to Flagstaff/NAU, its a great trip.
Remeber when they did that swing in consecutive days? That really was unfair for the rest of the conference.
