Robert Ford III deserves a shout-out for his effort in the comeback tonight. From the step-back three, stone-cold free throws, aggressive rebounds, he was the one player who just refused to lose. Robert, thank you for sticking around and becoming a rare “returning player.”
Yup, Robert is our new Raquan Battle!

Bite your to tongue. He is nowhere near the player Rae is on the court. It's going to be a long season. The two big guys look to be so outta shape as they are gassed after two trips up and down the court. Also looked to be alot of frustration on several players. Logie looks like he wants one on one ball which may have worked in D2 but not gonna work at this level. Also several players are more spot up shooters not one on one guys.

Was last night the first game you watched? This team plays well with each other.

I know this is going to be a tough year, but they did fight back in a game i figured was already over. Another thing is that often a team will play to the level of the team they are playing, which is very well where our guys are at. The last 3 real games have been decided by a bucket. Cant be too complaining about that. Now, if they lose every one here on out by 30, i might not want to drive over to watch too badly, but still might. I enjoy the sport and i enjoy following a team. It aint always rosy, and right now its far from that, but it is a pleasure to watch the coach and team grow and develop. Those who specifically call out a player and degrade them, shame on you... we are better than that around here.

I agree that Ford played one helluva game and it's a shame we still lost. He never gave up. Kudos to Robert Ford!

Both games we lost we had a layup in the end to win. Robert Ford against Seattle, and Goracki against Green Bay. Both missed.

I seem to remember Ford being quite the scorer at ISU. He's been willing to fill more of a support role here but I definitely think he has the chops to score 15 points or so a night. He really just willed us back into the game last night. Dude is a baller.

My concern right now(and I'm not trying to run down any players, just stating what I see) is that we are running 4 Sprinkle players(3 of which were backups) and one guy that Logie brought from D2 PL. I get there are some issues with players being in game shape and one guy in concussion protocol but the fact that the other guys he brought in aren't really contributing worries me. Olmsted seems like he should be able to give some decent minutes. Is Geron hurt? I don't remember even seeing him on the floor and we need more players with some size with McMahon going down. What about Gair? Just seems like a lot of scholarships for upperclassmen that aren't seeing much floor time.

1) Mens team had 8 scholarship players available last night. Of those 8 1 got into foul trouble and didn't play again, and another seemed to twist an ankle, and sat out the rest of the game... They were down to 6 scholarship players by the time they made the run. ANY TEAM in D-1 is going to struggle when you only have 6 scholarship players able to play in a game.

2) Logie was (acording to everything I have been told) the last D-1 college coach hired last year. That means every other D-1 program had coaches hitting the transfer portal (and getting players) before Logie even put a staff together. That is the toughest spot to ever be in as a coach. Add to that losing your top players to the school that the exiting coach JUST went to.

IF you are a true Cats fan, you shouldn't give up on this team... If you are in Bozeman, GO TO THE GAMES. Show your support!! Show this team, and these coaches, that no matter what you are there to support them and will be there when they succeed. If nothing else, do it for the players that DIDN'T leave. Even though they probably knew that they were going to have a long year, filled with tough games, BE THERE FOR THEM!!!! (Or at least watch them on ESPN+ as that hack announcer babbles his way through a game)

Last night was disappointing but Logie is the right guy for the job. New coach, new players, there will be more downs than ups. Next year will be a better barometer.

Thanks for a great post SACCAT.

We have had season tickets since we moved back to Bozeman 7 years ago and go to all games including the tourneys in Bozeman and Reno. This team plays very good entertaining basketball when healthy. They have the best cohesion of any of the teams we have seen. They knew the challenge that they were undertaking by being a member of this team but have embraced it and Logie's style of play. Maybe it's my Montana Class B upbringing where modestly skilled players compete with energy and enthusiasm, but I have truly enjoyed supporting this team and join SACCAT in encouraging others to get out and enjoy the show.

I’ve actually been pleasantly surprised by how competitive this team has been, given that we have a new coach, lost a good chunk of talent from last year, and how late of a start Logie got on recruiting. Am I expecting conference championship? Probably not. I do think this team will be entertaining and win some games.

Yes! This! Go to the games if you can. They're fun and it means a lot to the players to have the support of the community.

So why don't we play some if the non scholarship guys or redshirting guys. give them a shot when we have so many injuries.

thefrank1 & SACCAT put a pin in the situation. Both well said!!

The season is early and there’s tons of wrinkles to iron out! Context when discussing this team or any team for that matter, counts for more than we give credit. Some of that context has been spelled out here, only to have it shot down by folks saying “this team isn’t very athletic” or “who wants to watch so-and-so flail about in the lane”. It’s true, that despite the lack of high flying dunks and deep net ripping 3’s, this years Bobcats are 2-2 and easily could be 4-0 as Coach Logie pointed out after yesterdays loss. If they played every scholy player eligible (red shirts included), all while turning out the same results, this conversation would be different.

The fact is that’s not the situation. Pending the return of ET3, they’ve played 8 guys with 5 carrying the considerable share of the load the last 2 games. 2 of which play in the paint and under the basket which adds to the effort! I remember a few games where Belo had to pull big minutes and was a shell of himself at the end of the games.

Context matters and memories are short!

Go Cats Go

UC riverside beat GB by 6. Looks like another close game coming today. We are 2 missed layups away from 4-0 and have shot poorly. Defense seems sound as we held GB to about 10 less and that was OT. GB had to play back to back and now UC Riverside will.

Only complaint is not playing redshirt Scholly or non. If we are down to 7 and 5 getting most time it can't hurt for a few minutes any more than playing gassed guys.

So I know Geron had a cast on his hand about a month ago and assume he is getting close? And Turner should be back soon if in concussion protocol. What are the injuries to Gair and Miles? I saw Miles in the very first game, but I have not seen Gair play yet.

When I look at the game on ESPNplus I can pull up the bobcat broadcast on the MSU Bobcats app and all I have to do
is pause the telecast and I can sync the game so you hear the Bobcat announcer

Bobcats started slow against UC Riverside but got back in the game with his defense and attacking the rim. Forced several turnovers and had some really nice cuts to the basket for open layins. We're down one with Fotd going to the line for two. 3 minutes left in the first.
