Denarius, maybe? Stroud looks great for the Texans and they are in the playoff hunt for at least a few more weeks.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:10 pmHmmm, it sounds like you know something? This is kind of what I was expecting too. Somebody had previously mentioned a lot of HC's will hire position coaches before coordinators, and I have to think sometimes it's because the coordinator-to-be is still coaching and would prefer to keep his next move under wraps until the season is over.catatac wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:10 pmHmmm, it sounds like you know something? The obvious answer would be an offensive assistant at Texas that he has been working with for the past three seasons.GoodTimesAllTheTime wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:45 pmDenarius, maybe? True, but that’s a lot less fun to speculate about!MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:20 pmThe obvious answer would be an offensive assistant at Texas that he has been working with for the past three seasons.GoodTimesAllTheTime wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:45 pmDenarius, maybe? Kane had his chance at the HC job here. Doubt he takes it next go around either.

I thought about Matt Miller too, but if they announced Kane why wouldn't they also announce Matt?exppi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 8:54 pmOr another Bronco.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:20 pmThe obvious answer would be an offensive assistant at Texas that he has been working with for the past three seasons.GoodTimesAllTheTime wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:45 pmDenarius, maybe? Re: Choate to Nevada
Boise plays in the first bowl game of the year this Saturday, so perhaps Matt just wanted to finish out the season with BSU before leaving. It does seem a little odd that Kane would be announced and another BSU guy would wait.110010110 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 9:33 pmI thought about Matt Miller too, but if they announced Kane why wouldn't they also announce Matt?exppi wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 8:54 pmOr another Bronco.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 1:20 pmThe obvious answer would be an offensive assistant at Texas that he has been working with for the past three seasons.GoodTimesAllTheTime wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 12:45 pmDenarius, maybe? I know they have some prior connections, but I wonder if Choate would hire Pease as OC.

According to this, Kane was not going to get the Boise State DC job and will not be on the sidelines for the bowl game. I don’t know what to read into that, I certainly hope he is very successful at Nevada.

The DC job at Boise is much better than the DC job at Nevada. I don’t think anybody picks the same job at Nevada over Boise.

Re: Choate to Nevada
I've kinda been waiting for the correct time to bridge this but this seems as good an opening as any.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 13, 2023 3:02 pmKane had his chance at the HC job here. Doubt he takes it next go around either.
Kane taking the MSU HC job at this point would likely be a step backwards in his career. This will be his second FBS DC job...he's looking next to be a P5 coordinator or a G5 HC.
I've always been astounded that some fans don't realize what a coup it was for us to get Vigen. He likely would have had opportunities to continue moving up, or at least laterally, but chose us. It's part of why I like him so much. The job clearly means something to him.
This will always be home for Kane...but I think coming here would leave him moving in the wrong direction career wise.
Just my 2 cents.

Re: Choate to Nevada
I think you're probably right. But do you think it would matter that he was co-DC at Boise? He gets to be THE guy, except at a considerably lesser program.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 1:53 pmThe DC job at Boise is much better than the DC job at Nevada. If Choate brings Nevada to relevance, both his ab Kane's stock go sky high.

I was responding to the “we didn’t want him anyways”. It wouldn’t make sense for Kane to pick Nevada over Boise, so one can infer he wasn’t offered the Boise DC job by Danielsok.kennethnoisewater wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 2:46 pmI think you're probably right. Right, and my point doesn't make sense anyway...I was forgetting that BSU was going away from having Co-DC's because Danielson was promoted.BelligerentBobcat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 2:56 pmI was responding to the “we didn’t want him anyways”.
