I'll admit the Bobcats earned some (about 85%) of the fouls that were called on them but the refs gave as an early Christmas present to utah the other 15% of the foul calls. They weren't as giving to the Bobcats. Got to be proud of the way the Cats fought the whole game.

Yeah with that ref crew's history of changing calls after one of their looooooong reviews we may wake up tomorrow morning and see that they somehow changed the outcome of the game.MSU01 wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 10:51 pmEven after watching the replay I was still 90% convinced the refs would overturn it somehow. Great shot and a good job closing the game out!

Not pretty, but a gritty determined win by a bunch of guys that clearly enjoy playing for and with each other. Best coaching performance by a Bobcat head coach in at least the last 10 years.
Plenty of seats available come on out for some great heart stopping entertainment!

Re: MBB vs. Southern Utah
Logie can coach! That last play drawn up was a masterpiece. He's getting a lot out of a team that is a little low in talent.
Both teams, made up of cobbled together lineups, coming off coaching changes, played their guts out. But man-we could not keep SUU off the free throw line. They got into the bonus early and they hardly missed...except that kid that missed two right at the end-couldn't believe it. I think the same kid missed two in the first half to get us tacos-then in between they never missed-even their bigs hit all their free throws.
Goracke is a nice player. He's figured out how to use the left hand at close range-which he didn't do against Green Bay on that layup. And he really made up for the Green Bay miss with the winning 3 tonight. I was really happy for him.
We're in for some rough times this season I'm afraid, but I'm confident that if Logie can get a little more talent in here-this could be a fun ride in the long term.

I couldnt believe how many free throws they made either, and of course they finally missed when it mattered most! Thanks for sharing that twitter post, i'd pay money to be able to watch these announcers. I learn a lot about the game from them. I listen to them and sinc it up with the video feed on espn+ This game they had an entertaining exchange about whether the refs should make so many video reviews and I'm with Brian Priebe, they ruin the flow of the game so many times. Its getting ridiculous. Credit to our coach and team, because they had to really fight thru a lot of various factors that all seemed to be against them tonight.BelgradeBobcat wrote: ↑Tue Dec 19, 2023 11:54 pmLogie can coach! Nice play. Had so many options, and great use of Olmsted. Players executed it to a T. And Goracke was ice. Letting the defender fly past, and still not rushing. Good internal clock. Did everything right and got rewarded.

So you were good with the refs dragging this game out an extra hour?

Nope! In fact never! Well coached teams are taught to not allow decisions, even bad ones, of refs impact outcomes. Last night the Bobcats overcame bad calls and poor play at times to win! Trust, grit, and perseverance allowed them to stay in the fight. Does it always end up as a win? No. But they gave themselves a chance to win.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:34 amSo you were good with the refs dragging this game out an extra hour?

I was much more ok with it once the last review put enough time on the clock for MSU to run its final play for the game winning shot!luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 8:34 amSo you were good with the refs dragging this game out an extra hour?

So again. The refs turned this game into a joke, I'll stand by that and hope that squad never refs again.HighPlainsBobcat wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 10:12 amNope! In fact never! I retired and moved to San Diego to be near kids and grandkids ("Bozeman is toooo cold Dad!" It's NOT TOO COLD. I miss Bozeman, and Montana every minute of every day). My point: Coach Logie is revered here for what he did at Point Loma so get behind him, skip the negativity, attend the games. Part of his recruitment will be how great our crowd is. Sure wish I was there. I have to watch them on my laptop!!!!!!

Well said! Logie was in a really tough spot this year being the last Division 1 head coach hired and inheriting a decimated roster, but it's obvious that he's an extremely good coach. Look no further than that play he had ready to go last night setting up a wide open look with only 2.5 seconds left. Hopefully the crowds start to pick up after the new year when conference play begins, Bobcat fans have been spoiled the past few years but it's as important to support the team now as ever. I know I'll be making it down to Bozeman for as many games as time (and the weather) allows!Calbo32 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 2:57 pmI retired and moved to San Diego to be near kids and grandkids ("Bozeman is toooo cold Dad!" You can tell Logie is a good coach and he was dealt a tough hand. There's a lot a really good pieces here but right now everything is sooo streaky. They're either hot or cold and when its cold its real cold. I'd really like to see more out of Olmstead, he could be a real weapon but he needs to work on his game and strength. I hope we see some plays setting up our shooters, Patterson and Goracke are deadly on the stop and pop. I liked what I saw from Geron too, he's scrappy and plays strong. I wish he was 3 inches taller though.

Re: MBB vs. Southern Utah
Worst thing about last night-other than the interminable replay reviews-was our inability to inbound against their full-court press. They pressed on every made free throw (which as a lot) and we must have thrown it away four or five times. One of the 1000 things to work on.

Re: MBB vs. Southern Utah
It's obviously great that we hit that 3 to win but I look at the play again and I'm just wondering why if Olmsted caught it where he did, he wouldn't have just put the ball up against smaller defenders. Seemed like pretty much a gimme 2 pointer to tie the game. Idk, maybe the team was out of gas and they wanted to end it either way.MSU01 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 20, 2023 3:05 pmWell said! Kinda the opposite of going for two in overtime against North Dakota State in the playoff football game...technoCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 11:30 amIt's obviously great that we hit that 3 to win but I look at the play again and I'm just wondering why if Olmsted caught it where he did, he wouldn't have just put the ball up against smaller defenders. Goracke had a better chance of making that 3-point shot than Olmstead shooting a short two in my opinion. Olmstead's offensive skills are extremely limited.

Re: MBB vs. Southern Utah
We already had 2 players foul out and 3 other players with 4 (Goracke, Ford, Turner). I don’t think we would have made it through another 5 minutes offensively. That shot was our best chance to win.technoCat wrote: ↑Thu Dec 21, 2023 11:30 amIt's obviously great that we hit that 3 to win but I look at the play again and I'm just wondering why if Olmsted caught it where he did, he wouldn't have just put the ball up against smaller defenders. We can draw up a play like that, but can't get the ball inbounds to save our life in the back court.
