Why can't this conference get the same level of officiating as the WCC or the MWC? If the Cats are going to be a viable mid-major like Florida Gulf Coast, over half their shots have to be threes. Too many mid-range jumpers tonight.luckyirishguy25 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 10:45 pmnot playing very smart. can't play like this when you're playing the refs too.

LOL, Logie just followed the ref off the court at the end. Ironically the call he got the technical on was one of the few that ref got right.

Re: Double Header tonight
As much as the refs hurt the Cats this game they were still in it until the end.
15 Turnovers is simply too many. ET3 had 5 himself, at less 3 of them were travels. Those are errors you cannot make and expect to win.
Cats also went away with what was working in the first half a little bit. Against a team like that you need to get to the rim and try to shoot as many free throws as you can.
At the end of the day blame the refs all you want, but when you give up 27 free throws and have 15 TO’s there aren’t many games you’ll end up winning

Re: Double Header tonight
First off for women's game. What a great performance. The team played really well. Madison isn't the tallest player, but she's pretty long, and she gets off the ground on her jump shot and can get it over anybody. The 20 point final was closer than the game really was. Binford called off the dogs way early as NDSU just had one of those games where they couldn't get anything to fall. The Bobcat's defense was great, but NDSU really played awful.
As for the men. ORU reminds me of Weber. They have some dudes-guys with muscles on their arms. They out athlete-ed us tonight. That one ref must go to their church. It was almost hilarious how lopsided he called it-which directly led to the technicals. Only MSU could get homered on our home court. Speaking of getting homered-just wait until we play at SDSU. I hope no one has any delusions that we have a chance down there-it will be 5 on 8. It's not happening.
All in all-the Big Sky teams showed pretty well against the Summit. I think the Big Sky has a narrow lead going into Saturday. Weber at ORU will be interesting.
Correction-it's all tied up:

Re: Double Header tonight
You “will” see Dylan on the court in January. But her game conditioning will take some time.
I don’t think you will see Mattie Olsen this season.
I’m just excited to see the team continue to progress with the crew we have. Great effort by Natalie Picton, Issy Bunyan and others to fill in with critical personnel losses….and with other seniors to step into expanded roles. Good job ladies!!!

The women are starting to come together. Nice to see Hein getting her hands and some points in the paint.
Love the cycling through bench. Bin does this so well. Good job Cats.
The men's game - ergh.

Re: Double Header tonight
No, the ref did not get that one right. Or at least, he certainly missed the vicious elbow that the ORU 250 pound center threw at Chica. I respected Logie for standing up for his guy there. We were sitting right above that play. The ref was clear on the other side of the floor. Not sure where the other two refs were and why at least one did not see the elbow.
The ref who called both technicals must have called 90 percent of the fouls in the game and definitely called many more against MSU. The other two refs were “just there” and seemed to be just watching the one guy to learn how a ref can take over the game and control the outcome.
Sorry, still venting after watching that game….

Re: Double Header tonight
I was also befuddled when they missed that elbow as it was done where all could see it.
While registering my vehicles the assessor stated "I have had both Cat and Griz students and alums work for me and the Griz end up working under the direction of the Cats."

Re: Double Header tonight
On the replay the initial contact was Nduka grabbing and pulling the left arm of the ORU player. Clearly a foul. It's entirely possible there was an additional foul committed by the ORU guy after that, but the initial call on MSU was correct. I agree about that particular ref, one of those guys who obviously thinks fans paid their ticket prices to see him and not the two teams.HelenaCat wrote: ↑Thu Jan 04, 2024 10:34 amNo, the ref did not get that one right.
