I'm definitely picking Nevada to cover the spread vs boise next year.
 no doubt Choate will treat that game just like he did the um game. He's gonna make sure BSU regrets not hiring him.
I just said this in our group text…don’t know how fast Choate will get it going….but I would bet on Nevada against Boise and UNLV pretty much for the rest of time he’s the head coach there 🤣

I might have to go to that game in person. I’ll make sure to wear my gold rush gear.

My brother in law is a BSU fan (and a Gris fan; grew up in Boise and went to school in Missoula), so he knows about Choate. When Choate picked up Ioane, I sent him this text:
Stinks that BSU lost Ioane, but I'm unsurprised that Choate sniped him. BSU will have their hands full with UNR in the coming seasons. They'll be a tough, physical, fast team. That's what Choate builds his teams on; stifling defenses and running the ball. As he likes to say, drag them into deep water in the 4th quarter with long, soul-crushing drives where the other team knows what is coming, but can't stop.
Will be paying more attention than usual to MWC games next season. Should be interesting...

Eric Curry STILL makes me sad.

Another MSU connection to his coaching and support staff.

With some people, it’s better to leave before you run your welcome out.
:?:
Just a general statement.

I don’t think he and Leon got on very well though.
Yeah I think that's true. Choate doesn't have a lot of kind words to say about MSU behind closed doors and it's too bad.
Man, talk about a curiosity peaker.
No kidding. We're going to need a bit more detail on this.
Can’t drop that kind of bomb and then stay quiet on the issue or saying something like “it’s a private matter.” :penalty:

Really? lol. Are we really at a place where there is a huge gap between the good directors of nutrition and the bad ones? Not trying to be smart ass but as with anything, if we need to hire a new one I have huge faith that the coaching staff will make a great hire.

Weren't we the first (or maybe second) team in the conference to hire a director of nutrition? I doubt many in the conference have done much to catch up. The biggest thing is probably just to hire someone that doesn't have any crazy ideas.

I imagine it’ll be an internal promotion. Obviously she wasn’t working alone.

If I remember correctly, the Cats were the only school in the Big Sky with a full time nutritionist. I have no idea if that is still the case though.

I know Patera is very well respected by the athletes. Various players have mentioned her in interviews.

Brittany doesn't just feed the football team she is responsible for all D1 teams.

She works with the coaches and has devised specific meals, treats, etc for each different team with different scenarios.

Losing her will be a bigger loss than most will recognize.

Brittany is a big loss. To clarify, she is not a nutritionist. She is a registered dietician, which requires a master’s degree. She is also a licensed sports dietician and a board certified specialist in sports dietetics. There is a big difference between a nutritionist and a dietician. Nutritionists usually cannot provide medical nutritional counseling or diagnose or treat illnesses. In contrast, a registered dietitian is a credentialed professional. She will be missed and I am thankful we had her for the time that we did to develop the program at MSU. She leaves a great foundation for whoever fills her position.

It looks like Brian Armstrong has joined the Nevada coaching staff. I first noticed it when he was retweeting football recruits, and have since verified it on their roster. Joey Thomas is on there too.

Edit: whoops, I didn't see this was previously covered, sorry.

Choate on Armstrong: "I've known Brian since he was an 18-year-old freshman at Western Montana—we go that far back. And I've watched him grow into one of the best offensive run game coaches in the country. He is a home run for us in what he brings to the table, and what we'll be able to do on the offensive line. He has a great reputation for being creative, innovative, and sound in the run game. Brian is highly technical, which you have to be as offensive line coach—I felt this was the most important hire for us, and we hit a home run."

Probably so, but she was the Director of Nutrition at MSU and her bachelors degree is in Nutrition and Food Science and her Masters degree is in Clinical Nutrition. See her job description. That's probably why people are saying she is a nutritionist. They aren't trying to slight her in any way. She is a registered Dietician/Nutritionist.
